I think there is something about driving that is not tangible, not easy to describe and not the same from one person to the next.
It is the emotional component of owning a car by people that like cars, like to drive, like to go fast and like to go to track days. Perhaps because it is full of compromises, contradictions, the desire to have it all in the face of physics. A tinge of OCD almost always larking in the corner, and her cousin, the opinionated-mind, keeps her company. A professional driver gets into a car and wants it on the limit, he does not worry about how the car look or what the components are. The pro just wants to win the race. He cares about crashing not because his blood, sweat, tears and wallet are involved. But because he did not win. I find that what I like to feel is not what someone else wants to feel. What I want to see when I walk to my car will not be the same as someone else. After all, if everyone would fall in love with the same person we would be in trouble. While most people fall in love, and feel emotionally about the same (The physics can be measured) we luckily fall in love individually and with different people. I think the key to remember is that at the end us car people feel the same but we don't arrive to those feelings the same way. What this mean is that we find a community we can share our feelings with people that can understand those feelings. 19", 18", same tires, different tires, these brakes, that brakes - doesn't really matter. Objectively we will have a lap times to measure ourselves and emotions to share with others. Oh boy, my next trackday feels so far away in 15 degrees weather. |

Your tire doesn't hit the brake duct with it running through the edge of the front fender liner? I'm trying to figure out how to best run my ducts...

ACM is test driving between snow storms. But so far looks good. I will really know only on March 20th when i hit my first track day. That and the rear 305/30/19 idea. So far so good, but will only know for real on March 20th. |

All changes for the 2021 are in place and I will pickup the car from ACM as soon as weather allows. I test drove the car yesterday and OMG how good it feels. In short:
Rear 1. Solid diff bushging 2. Solid subframe 3. Revshift Rear Trailing Arms (because so beautifully made) 4. SPL rear arm (not sure what exactly its called 5. Eibach 1100 spring (0700.225.1100) 6. 305/30/19 on 10.5" 22 off set. IT FITS no spacers 7. JRZs - HS 15, LS 4, Rebound 8, Shaft (mid speed) 12 (half way) 8. Camber -2.0 Toe 0 Mid 1. Revshift 80A transmissions mount. Feels so good and compliment the vibrations from Turner 95A motormounts Front 1. Brake ducts - looking to solve inner pad wear. Starting with new pads 2. SPL everything, (arms, links) looks fast 3. 285/30/19 fits with polishing inner fender characteristics to keep it clean 4. JRZ - HS 15, LS 4, Rebound 8, shaft 12 5. Camber -3.5 Toe 0 The car feels divine to drive. Will see if it translates to speed. Last edited by rhyary; 02-14-2021 at 04:04 PM.. |

Were you running 0 toe in the rear before? I suspect with going up in rear spring rate, running 0 toe and a relatively high rear ride height you'll have a lot of (or at least more then before) rotation. Not sure how the balance of the car was beforehand and again what you were running for rear toe, but running 0 toe in the rear is quite uncommon on this chassis.

If you need more rear rotation though, going to 0 toe is a good start. Also, if you're trying to get more rear rotation, why go up in rear tire size? |

Zero static toe in the rear may kill the insides of the rear tires quickly.

A 305/30/19 is the correct diameter for the rear.
a 295/30/19 ia bit short. i am on 3.62 so the 275/35/19 and the 305/30/19 gives me a better final ratio by making my gears a bit taller. It is not night and day but it is nicer cruising to the track faster on same RPM. |

It is true. I have not had a problem with wheel spin. I am not sure why. Perhaps I am not going to WOT fast enough, or not coming out of the corner on low enough gear.

I can fit 315s on the rear, but just cause it fits doesn't mean I use it. Maybe you got a good deal on them and that's why you're using them, I don't know. |

Like going into Turn 4 at LRP and T3 and T6 at NYST. I don't need to rotate the car everywhere. The 305s are a good size foe the rear for other reasons than just rotation. I have mostly 295/30/19 for 2021 and two sets of 305/30/19 for a price I could not refuse. Mostly I am interested in the 60 tread Corsa. I don't have a huge expectations that the Corsa 305 will be remarkably better than the 295 RR. I will be sure to report what the 305 feels like good or bad. My first trackday will be on Corsa 285/30/19 front and 305/30/19 rear. So matched tires by coincidence. |

I wrote a virtual track walk and had it reviewed by few NYST regulars.
It is not perfect but can be useful foe two purposes: 1. For someone the come to NYST - use it as a reference to get consistency 2. For someone new to NYST, use it to get oriented before your first day. If you interested, send me your email or a phone number and I will provide you with a PDF. If you would like to make it better, send me your comments. |

Are your rear suspension components compliant or do they have solid bushings.
Toe change under braking and acceleration isn’t too bad with the E9x chassis, but zero toe is an interesting choice.
