It depends on the pulley design. Some are lighter material but the same size as OEM so the water pump sees no change. Mine (I think it's Turner but I'd have to look it up to confirm) has a smaller pulley for the belt that drives the water pump. This means the water pump isn't being driven as quickly per revolution of the engine. In normal street driving the engine will not run hotter because the thermostat hasn't changed and the flow of the water pump is still adequate to remove heat (in the PNW). But I imagine with persistently hotter driving, and especially harder driving in hotter areas of the country - the engine will trend hotter due to the lower coolant flow. In my area of the country and with my driving, I've not seen my engine running hotter. |
