Love it

Can I put in a request first that you please try to focus on the 180 and up TW segment this year? Particularly a comparison between say RS4 vs the falken 660 & Rival 1.5S in both performance & durability
None have attractive 19" sizes.
While I am not sure what tires I will be runing (mixed or single vendor) I will be focusing on these sizes, front, rear:
1. 285/30/19 295/30/19 or
2. 265/35/19 275/35/19

The lease expensive way to test the sizes will the Ecsta PS91 because it has both sizes.

The more expensive route would be MPSS

If the 265 275 prove to be competitive, it opens the floor to RE-71R, a reasonable priced tire. or the expensive R888R.

Will see, I still have to chew some tires I have in inventory

Skip the 888. Ran a few sets and should've just jumped to the RR sooner.

Well....
I know the R888R common opinion.
I ran the R888R myself and was not impressed.

However..... it is a possibility that Toyo would be interested to work with me on tires. If that materialized the two options would be the RR or the R888R. The RR we know and like but I tried few times the front RR 235/35/19 and while fast, I am not willing to dial my camber from -3.5 to -2.0 so I can ran these. (At -3.5 I destroyed the inside of the 235 too quickly). Anyway the 235/35/19 Hoosier R7 did the same thing as the RR so I know it is not the RR, it is the size.

Moving on, the point is that I will only mount the R888R if I have a Toyo tire engineer making sure the tire is maximizing its potential. Otherwise I am not going on it on my own.

If you're destroying the inside then aren't you running too slowly for that negative camber setting?

What's the problem with reducing the camber as its not inherently beneficial to run excessive camber if it's not providing more contact patch grip?

Luckily there are real suggestions and insight below!

Going to have to start stocking up soon on those RE-71Rs though if that is what you are building towards with the 265/275.

What wheel widths are you on?

A Toyo engineer? You can always call and ask for advice, I have done this with Hoosier and some others. Or do you mean you want them trackside to work with you?

What pressures were you running with the RR? I'm guessing you were running too low of pressures leading to that inside wear, the camber change sounds like a band-aid to fix the improper pressure. -2* sounds way to little for the RR's, I've run them a bunch and have been experimenting with pressures this past season. Running -3.5* to -3.9* (been playing with front camber as well), I've tried front pressures of 33-38psi hot. The RR's seem to prefer the upper range of that. Lower tire pressures were leading to irregular wear, outside or inside - depending on which camber settings.

I spoke with some Toyo engineers and they said for my car, given the weight, roughly the alignment settings, they recommended 38-40 hot - much higher then I initially started at which was 34 hot. Wear seems to have improved as I've gone up in pressure, more even across the tread. And the grip level seems to have stayed basically constant.

Directly from the Toyo website for the RR:

Operating Temperature: 160°F to 220°F
Hot Inflation Pressures: High 30s to Low 40s (psi)
Camber: -2.5° to -5.0°
Caster: As much positive as possible

So yes, if you are running less than 2.5 degrees of negative camber and/or your pressures are mid-30s or below, you are going to experience sub-optimal grip and/or wear. I didn't bump up my pressures at first on the RR and started to get inside wear. It evened out once I started shooting for 38ish as a peak temp.

R888R for comparison:

Operating Temperature: 160°F to 220°F
Hot Inflation Pressures: 32 to 38 (psi)
Camber: -1° to -3°
Caster: As much positive as possible

The Falken should have Option 2 set for you coming. Their website lists 265/35/19, 275/30/19, 275/35/19, 295/3019, and 305/30/19

Don't forget that RE71r is being phased out and rt660 is similar but cheaper

Have you looked into the 220tw Goodyear Supercar 3? they have several 19" sizes too

I have the media mod, it makes things a pain but it does allow me to run a type c to the camera and my mic, so it charges while on the track.

I use this Mic with a dead cat around it, its stuffed up inside my trunk (I dont have a trunk liner)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here is a video using the mic

reducing the camber is detrimental to 285 and 265 and I don't have suspension engineer changing the camber per tire mounted.

And as I said, I am narrowing down the sizes to 285/30/19 and 265/35/19

I was doing my best times on the RR and R7 running in the 1:35.9 with the R7 and 1:36 with the RR despite the wrong size

I got the same advice and ran pressure from 32 hot to 44 hot. I have tried the RR 235/35/19 multiple times with multiple settings. Trust me, for the price I tried many things many times.

The Falken should have Option 2 set for you coming. Their website lists 265/35/19, 275/30/19, 275/35/19, 295/3019, and 305/30/19

Don't forget that RE71r is being phased out and rt660 is similar but cheaper

Have you looked into the 220tw Goodyear Supercar 3? they have several 19" sizes too
Cool, I am on tire websites all the times trying to find new options
