Those GTI's are pretty fun.. I borrowed one recently with the dct and had a lot of fun in it.. even got me thinking about one for a run about. Something very fun about tossing a fwd car like that around corners and zipping around town.

Nice!!!
I have also "infected" my son. He drove his Focus RS from Ft Campbell to Bowling Green yesterday and participated in his first Autocross.
The Army provides a garage and tools for the soldiers to work on their cars, so he put on his track pads on Saturday. He's into it now!

Yeah, he loves that thing. It's a nice little car, great bang for the buck (Used). I am just happy that he has something of his own to toy with. For a few years, he was giving me gray hair toying with crap that young people do.

Crossed 55K ...
OE Euro front bumper put on, detailed ... looks really nice.
New control arms with Dinan monoballs, aligned ... feels really nice.
Fall-Line DCT pan with fresh fluid and filters, oil changed ... drives really nice.

Nice, he'll never have money for drugs if he's spending all of it on his car.. keeps them sober too when they're driving around their pride and joy on a Saturday night.. 😂

Just re-read my post and realized I used the word "fun" a lot. I guess I really am a little smitten over that car. I've driven other hot hatches focus st, golf r, amg 45 thingy but the Gti has a great power to weight combo and paired with that dsg trans its very useable and a versatile car... I'd take one over the golf r which is probably a less popular opinion.

The mod-bug is very hereditary! My dad is 79 and is still autocrossing and always changing something on his car. I've never been able to leave anything completely stock either.
The question in the back of my mind is always - how can I make it better?

Ha.

By the way e92 M3 DCT ZCP is still a LOT better. IMHO it was the best car ever made in the history of BMW.

Got the Corsa exhaust installed on the e90 M3 today. So if everything else goes wrong, at least there is that. Also got new O2 sensors installed while at the shop. 82k on the car so seems reasonable to get new ones, maybe MPG will improve? Shop had to do some minor welding because the Corsa connecting pieces where the clamps go didn't fit perfect and would move around and probably make noise. Not sure if defect from Corsa or just happened before it got onto my car.

This exhaust doesn't look as bad as everyone says it does if your head isn't under the car. That said will be swapping to matt black tips that are larger.

Exhaust seem slightly louder than my OEM 2 pipe modded exhaust (which is for sale). It's sort of like a better version of the stock exhaust where everything is just better. Less weight, louder, more exotic, less rasp, just overall better tone with more clarity, but not wildly different. My CF plenum still overpowers the exhaust at least from the driver's seat when WOT. At slow speeds this picks up the slack. No drone at like 2500-2800 RPM. Some very minor drone starting at 2900 RPM becoming a little more noticeable at say 3200 RPM I think?

Some interesting cars at the shop.
-Ferrari F8 in red
-BRZ in blue
-A white e92 M3 that probably was ZCP
-BMW 2002 tii
-Black Supra with Volks
-Laguna Seca Blue e46 M3 ZCP
-Gray s2000

Rod bearings replacement going good! A lot easier job than I was expecting. Walnut blasting the intake valves on my N54 was a bigger job.

I actually think it is easier doing in on jack stands as you can sit the sub frame and steering racking on the floor and there’s nothing like lying down on the job!

I got one pair of bearings out before calling it a night - bearings and engine mounts look okay. Car has 52,000kms...

That's because your pictures are portrait oriented. Forum's automatically turn them landscape oriented.

By the way, good luck! Take notes, place things in safe and organized places, be clean, avoid oil in the back of the shells, put oil in the front of the shells, check torques, and go!
