His half cage looks super legit as well!
I'll probably end up buying this next spring but if someone gets it sooner, I'd love a review.

Going further down the rabbit hole with SPL front arms + sway bar endlinks. Removing dinan FSB and replacing with a brand new stock one since going from 550/800 to 700/1000, I feel like front end isn't as easy to manage

Hello guys,

I have just got Bosch brake pads for my E92 M3 as preparation for a track day (OEM needs to be replaced anyway) but after I received them, a friend of mine said they are not really good and may damage the discs and may cause vibration due to his experience with aftermarket pads (Textar) I have searched the forums for feedback, found many positive feedback on Akebono and others but nothing on Bosch, any of you tried them? shall I install them or replace them with OEM for peace of mine?

Thanks

For your first track day? They should be fine. Oem pads are fine for your first day or two, and I cant imagine the bosch pads being much different from oem.

When your speeds pick up, none of the brands you mentioned make a pad that's a consensus track day pad, that I'm aware of.

Ferodo, PFC, Pagid, Hawk, Porterfield makes track pads in oem shape. Start there.

The Bosch pads are just a basic street pad, they're equivalent to the OEM Textar pads.

They'll be fine for your first track day, just mind the pedal feel and check consumption throughout the day. You might get some streaking on the rotors from heat but that can be wiped clean through a quick re-bedding procedure.

Why not use those front knuckles that help correct geometry?

I am on 750/1000 feels good.
I was on 750/900 and prefer the 1000

Since I am SC, I assume the 700 N/A be about the same

I have 728/1120 springs ready to go, but I'm gonna try 628/1120 first to see what it's like (Stock sways). Could be fun. Been running 628/900.

I really liked 670/1230 on stock sways, but it was a little hard to manage on street tires and a shitty asphalt surface. I'll probably go back to that setup now that I'm running more and more on HoHos and also have some more downforce. It really helps to keep the front aero off the ground with the stiffer springs!

I currently have 560/1120 with an eibach front sway and that works really well. I think you're right in the ballpark with the new rates.

Glad we're all talking spring rates. May car is at 515/800 and the front its wayy under sprung. Car has a lot of front roll and nose-dives a lot more than I'd like to see under braking. Bandaided with a big front bar but the car definitely still needs some more tweaks. Looking at moving up to 571 or 628 and seeing how that goes and then maybe messing with the rear, but I don't think the rear is the problem yet and no aero here. I have some 678 for the front too I could test but think I'll need to go up in the rear for those.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I pretty much only run pirelli DH scrubs now and have some decent downforce as well. I figure I can increase the wing aoa if I'm feeling chicken in the high speed stuff. I'm looking for a more lively car and I think this will be a nice step.

Thought about it, but there's a few reasons why I went with the SPL parts to start:
- Less proven, I just like to see people successfully run parts before jumping on. The SPL parts seem like they've been used by many with success. I also saw the uprights have a manufacturing delay, so it's just not ready for what I want to do.

- Different parts: I'm seeing them as somewhat complementary parts. I wanted to replace the front arms on my car since they're likely worn out, and I had a rough impact on one side of the car.

- Locking down alignment: I've also been noticing my alignment get knocked out of place after jacking up the car, then having it magically knock back into correct alignment after going over a bump. I think something is slipping. In marketing copy, I see some sites say the SPL parts can hold an alignment better. I'll have to find out.

Thanks! Have run them already at 2 track days and I'm surprised I'm not feeling significant harshness over what 550/800 was. I had a solid rear subframe mount + poly diff/trans mounts installed at the same time, so it's hard to isolate what parts made the biggest changes.

Lol I just want to see some methodology and data behind the numbers. It all seems a little bit like arbitrary choices and based on "feel" of the car but some data on what works best or was a "faster" setup would be nice. If Bimmerworld or XYZ race team is running xxx rate/xxx rate with a certain setup with aero and everyone is copying that that's fine but I'd love to try to get more research and data behind it if possible. I know that the KW Clubsports came with either 515/800 (what I am running) or the later 628/685, and my 515/800 setup isn't really working right so there's definitely some tinkering to be done.

I've been trying to put some data together on my own setup to run some calculations and whatnot, but with work and life in the way I might just find it easier to do some of my own on-track testing on a few different setups over the next few weeks and go from there. Good news is it looks like I'll have the car out nearly every weekend in November so there will be plenty of data to be had.

I agree that data is the best form of convincing! I think the largest part is that I don't plan to run AERO and I plan to keep at the 200TW category of tires. I am very curious what you find out! 500/800 was originally what I was planning to get but for whatever reason I was convinced to 600/900. Who knows maybe it will be stupid and I'll end up back at 400/700 for the plush street ride.

If the 600 5" / 900 8" test doesn't go as plan, I'll likely hit you up if you still have them.
