M Performance Exhaust - Tips Rattling

Hello,

Im currently having some high-frequency rattling coming from the vibration between the inner and outer wall of two tips on my new MPE. I've searched around the forums but haven't found anything to my below questions...

1. Do the inner and outer wall have a separate set of rivets each? It looks like the rivets closest to the MPE muffler connects the entire tip assembly, and the second set of rivets connects the outer wall to the inner wall.

2. What are the rivet sizes BMW uses on the tips for both the inner and outer? Are they the same as the ones holding the stock tips to the stock muffler?

3. Is there any way of tightening it up or getting rid of the noise without drilling out and replacing the rivets? I thought maybe JB Weld but the gap between the inner and outer walls are as thin as a hair, if that.

Thanks for any help!

I had a similar issue. Push pull and wiggle on the tips while it’s rattling and see if you can diagnose which one. I found that one of the inner tip walls inside of the exhaust was making a rattle noise, only during cold start. I small tac weld resolved the issue.

I've heard about this issue, just drill out the original rivets and re-rivet it again with different rivets.

It's currently under warranty from BMW since I bought it new from Silver Springs. Hopefully that's what the dealer will do since it seems simple enough, but I've found zero on what size rivets those are. Only been able to find the rivets for the stock tips.

Gets even better, a week later they called and said that BMW didn't want it back and I could have it...picked it up and sold it for $1600.00.
