OEM mod or resonator delete?
Just got my M a couple weeks ago. Asked a muffler shop about doing the OEM mod and he suggested deleting the resonators. 1. Are there any resonators 2. what sounds better?
Do not want to deal with drone at all. I have real a lot of posts saying how much they like the OEM mod. Any ideas? Live in a smaller city so there aren't many other Ms here. |

dont think he knows what he is taking about. try another shop. yes there are resonators, and no you dont want to remove them unless you like drone. i dont have it but of those 2 choices the oem exhaust mod is the better choice by far.

Do the OEM Mod.... Trust me you will love it. I had mine done today after having a Magnaflow system on my car for a year. IT seriously is an amazing sound. No drone, quiet when cruising but sounds awesome when you get on the gas...

Got it done! sounds pretty nice. not as loud as I thought but the sound from 2000-4000 during normal throttle sounds exotic. WOT is even better. will post vids soon.

Just wondering what it is and if it sounds any decent? Heard the resonator is there to soften the exhaust and restrict flow. This accurate?
I personally don't see any other purpose that the resonator serves.

I used to have mod 1 on my e93 and loved it. I did want a little louder at times though. Then I drove one with mod #1 and test pipes and WOW, that was what I was looking for! Sounded amazing from 3-5k rpm and not too raspy either. I think I'd rather do mod 1 + TP than mod 2 or 3.
