Squeaky sound when depressing clutch pedal
With the engine off and pushing in and releasing the clutch pedal I hear squeaking coming from underneath the car somewhere. Not sure how long this has been going on because i rarely just push in the clutch with the engine off, unless I’m going to start it. But usually the door is closed when I do this and this squeak is barely audible so I guess I havent noticed it. What could it be? Bad slave cylinder?
My M3 is a 09 with only 29k miles.

Little update. I drove the car today for about 30 miles (haven’t driven it for about two weeks) and when I got home I pressed the clutch pedal in with the engine off and couldn’t hear any squeaking.

I used to have it too, on all my manual cars.
Cold days, squeaky, hot days, doesn't do it. Maybe lube?

The only simple thing you can do if it is inside the bell housing is to pull the slave and check the tip of the pin. Is the plastic gone? Is the grease gone? If it’s more than that, you have to pull the trans to inspect the pivot pin on the other side of the clutch fork, the trans input shaft splines, the guide tube, and the release bearing.
Since it is barely audible, and you hear it only on the rare occasion when you depress the clutch with the engine off, I would not worry about it. If it gets worse, then you know what to do. |
