Okay so Carbon Fiber Plenum from Eventuri installed. I had no idea what I was doing besides the research I had done ahead of time on the install and having changed the intake filter once before. Installed at the covered parking garage at my office because the garage at home has no room on the sides for me to work, and I didn't want the car being in an un-drivable state on the street if I ran into trouble.








The rest of the intake is stock including the filter and exhaust is 2 pipe OEM mod. When I first drove it after install I drove civilized to warm up the engine and couldn't tell a difference at all. Then when the engine was warm and I did 5th to 4th down shift the rev match was super loud and had a deep tone. I was like "Oh my God..."

The engine induction sounds AMAZING and LOUD at high RPM with wide open throttle. I feel like it's 4 times louder than stock? I don't know. The downshifts sometimes but not always have a different chirp than stock that sound great. If you like noise get this Eventuri plenum or the Karbonius. If anyone is on the fence then you should buy it. Intake elbows and exhausts are probably a waste of time when you could do this. Exhaust noise is audible I guess below 5k RPM. Sell your exhaust buy one of these.

I find the induction noise from the plenum is best around 6.5k RPM at wide open throttle.

I suspect the idle control valve hose and crank case vent hose are not 100% clipped onto the plenum the way they should be now that I have reviewed some pictures in more detail but at the time I couldn't seem to get them to clip on better. So to be continued on that in the future to recheck my install. I HOPE if there is an issue they throw a Cel. I did get a Cel this morning for the intake air temp sensor. I just needed to make sure the connection was solid, now it seems fine.

God its glorious. I must have one. Although I do love the exhaust note of my current setup.. Worth the sacrifice I suppose.

Dropped the subframe not on the M but on wife's 530i to do the oil pan gasket along with full suspension rebuild I'm currently in the middle of. Was my first time dropping a subframe so didn't want to risk it with the M . Now that I have the confidence to drop the subframe I can finally replace the bearings in the M. But first, I have to do an auto to manual swap on my E39 530i.

Make sure you're ready! Ceramic is no joke for the uninitiated. I've even accidentally left a streak with CarPro Reload before, which is like a small fraction of the potency of Cquartz.

If you're handy with that stuff, make sure you've got great lighting when applying and you'll be thrilled with the results.

Totally agree! You leave one smear mark you will be polishing your car back down then re-coating the car. It is quite a product though and almost feels like gel coat on finger nails. But make sure your paint is near perfect before applying as it will show all defects in the paint.

I have yet to use the reload that it came with. It said to apply 24 hours later but I think Ill let it cure a bit longer before doing so. I've read other places its not necessary at this point either. But thanks for the heads up on smearing.

Finally got around to the egg yolk delete today. Ideally I would want zero yolk (such as aftermarket led) but I preferred OEM fit, finish and longevity


Thanks to brantp and a few others the OEM X5 silver PY24w bulb was the way to go. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

For those curious wheels don't have to come off. I gained plenty of access by turning wheel fully left for driver side (wheel points out) or right for passenger light.

The order of the pics is off. Last one was halfway through for comparison (driver side is silver bulb)

Hmmm you guys are making me think otherwise. I definitely fall in to the 'uninitiated' category. Maybe I'll just stick to my wax for the time being, my paint still looks great. I really just want to coat my damn wheels more than anything. Has anyone used the Chemical Guys Hydroslick? Seems like that would be a happy medium between a wax and something like this? Perhaps more forgiving.

When I was looking for detailing supplies I ran into CG here in Houston. I purchased that HydroSlick product. That shit sucks! It is harder than ass to remove and lasts maybe a month. I ended up posting on one of their ads on FB and saying anyone in Houston want it free come and get it. And someone did.

The CQ is amazing and it was my first time working with the product as well. I watched a lot of videos and read on AutoGeek asking a lot of questions. The paint prep was the hardest thing, the coating was quite easy. The car looks a million times better than any way job I had and you can honestly feel the coating on the car. My next step is to do my wheels.

Haven't used HydroSlick but I recently applied the infamous Jescar Powerlock + and Colinite 845 combo to my wife's car and it's the real deal. I intend to top with TW Ice Seal & Shine for maintenance washes.

Ceramic is definitely superior to any wax or sealant. So worth it. Whether you get it installed professionally or are comfortable doing yourself, you'll be happy with the results.

I recommend watching lots of Pan the Organizer, Car Craft Auto Detailing, and Obsessed Garage on Youtube - lots of good info on how to apply ceramic coatings

I did a little maintenance re-up on my CQuartz UK. You can see where some of the coating was starting to fail - lack of beading in select areas. Overall, impressed it made it 2.5yrs already!

Reset is an awesome shampoo. Reload is a little more sensitive to work with than a traditional sealant but the car feels ultra slick after a dry application.

May I suggest adding in a decon to your maintenance/refresh wash. 2.5 years is very good for UK in terms of duration. I bet however if you added in ironX every 3 months with your maintenance wash, the coating would last even longer.

I topped my UK 3.0 with Gliss, I can easily notice the difference.

Absolutely agree. I've actually done very little of anything to maintain the coating until now as I wanted to see how long it would last on its own. I did this minor re-up to prevent me from having to do a full polish/prep & coating right now.

When I do re-coat the car, I'll absolutely do a more regular maintenance and see how long that lasts!

Car Pro makes Reload that works quite well too. It will prolong your CQ UK for its full duration. I agree though IronX every so often does not hurt the coating.
