Right now I am at 2 weeks, but I won't need to drive it until probably April-May. I thought about going on some spirited weekend drives (both for sanity and for keeping the M3 awake)

What would be the longest you would let your M3 sit before you made storage precautions?
2 weeks max, I would let the engine run and do grocery pickups with it.

That’s what I’m doing.

Enjoy!

Mine sat in the garage from August to the end of January. It was only started 3 times to move the car out, back in and then out of the garage.

If you plan on letting it sit for an extended period of time, I suggest doing the following

• Over inflate tires to 50psi
• trickle charger
• full tank of gas (ETH free preferably to stop moisture from being in the tank)

I'd only recommend fuel stabilizer if it's sitting for more than 3 months.

As per starting again.

I usually leave the ignition on for a minute or two. This is mainly to just adjust the seat and other things.

Thanks for the info, well tires isn't mattering as much as its currently sitting on the winter set, I still need to swap to the summer GTS set.

It is already on a CTEK and oddly enough a full tank before it sat.

You should be fine then. If you want to take it the extra mile. Slide some carpet under each wheel anyways. This will allow moisture under the wheel to escape

You'll be fine with trickle charger. My M doesn't really get used in the winter and she's fine.

I already have test pipes. I can imagine what it sounds like with an eventuri set up.
Despite the fact that the resins on the elbow and intake cover do not match the plenum, i love it. It is one of my favorite mods i bought for my car. The sound is amazing, and in my opinion, compliments my tp+megan exhaust nicely.

I took it for a ride today after I swapped the GTS/summer set on. Drove it long enough to get the oil level to register, figured that was enough.

I hadn't driven my E92 in at least 3 weeks, and what with all the scare stories I hear on the forum about getting a trickle charger on there if its going to sit for more than a few hours I knew I didn't want to wait too many more days. Therefore I was determined to take the M3 out one day a couple weeks back.
The morning of, I kept telling myself "c'mon, get off your fat ass and go get the car ready", but I kept delaying until I absolutely had to get going to make an appt. That meant I didn't have time to move all my needed stuff out of the X2 and into the M. I was upset with myself for dragging ass but I figured I'd end up taking the car out another day that week.

About 25 minutes later I was headed up the interstate in a pack of cars. I was surrounded on the left and right, and some car behind me was obviously driven by a proctologist, because he was trying to crawl up my tailpipe. I had a good space in front of me though.

Until a forced merge a few hundred feet ahead of me meant a truck hauling rocks and most likely driven by Satan pulled across and into my lane. He timed it perfectly, and hit a major crack in the road in just the right way so that big clump of barnacles that usually clings to the undercarriage of those trucks could drop a couple of nice-sized pieces. I watched as one hit the ground and skipped right towards me.

I couldn't do a damn thing. No escape to the left, none to the right, and if I'd hit the brakes and the big richard behind me ran into me, a creative cop and/or attorney could have used that as a violation of the reckless driving statute and I would have left with a crumpled car and a felony arrest.

So I watched this thing bounce up and head straight for my windshield. Instead, it hit the roof immediately above and put a chip in the paint. I would rather have had to replace the windshield than deal with a chip, especially on Misano Blue. Now I get to have Dr. Colorchip "custom mix" a paint for me that won't match, no matter what I do, and they'll swear I was doing something wrong.

But, at least it wasn't my M3. Its just over 9 years old and it looks brand new, not a scratch, not a chip. The windshield is another story, but that ain't no big deal.

Of course, now that has me thinking about trading the X2 in for an X3M Competition... again. Especially with the dealer just pulling a loaner out of the fleet with less than 4k miles @ <$70k.

I always hear great things about BlackVue cams. I was going to start looking into one myself.

Anyone done this recently?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CTKKLYS...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Looked into it a couple years ago, but the reviews were between "it blew something electrical and now my sunroof wont open" and "worked perfectly and it's awesome".

Cried a little

This is what happens when you're in a hurry. Ignore the rusty lugs, I have them and will install when I get the wheel fixed. I don't even want to drive it until it's fixed.

I recommend the blackvue mostly because it is low profile.

Hit a fat ass possum this morning. Front lip didn't stand a chance. Luckily it was cheap and already cracked horizontally through the center. Probably why it fractured how it did.
