VAC oil pan baffle - any side effects?
I'm looking at installing the VAC oil pan baffles on my E92 M3 and already have the parts:
https://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac...s65-p3001.aspx I heard from a friend that an n54-based car had problems reading engine oil level (electronically) and it made the readings erratic. Seems like an odd issue. Has anybody installed this part and run into issues? Or installed the part and not had any issues? Thanks in advance! |

I initially had some oil measurement issues after install but I don't know if it was pan related. Our oil level sensors are finicky. No issues at this point. I have had it installed for 10k+ miles

Update.. we had it welded into a new pan at a good shop but it kept leaking when warm. Shit is tough. Haven't put it in my car yet..

I have not had this issue. I did a core swap with VAC for my pan. Welding was performed by VAC

They often have modified pans in stock. I didn't have them modify mine. It was an exchange of a pan they modified for my OE pan. There's a core charge that is refunded once your OE pan is received.

We never did a full tear down, so I don't know the exact cause. You're right though - with that said and the high G capability mentioned earlier, it may not be directly related to the issue I had.
Makes me feel better about not having moved further with it ![]() |

My thinking is why not? My goal has been to build for durability and safety. Baffled pan, rod bearings upgrade, cooling upgrades, no forced induction.

Lower oil pressure (than stock) was recorded at some corners on my aim logger. Now back to the stock pan, the oil pressure before installing VAC baffle is maintained.
I don't know why.

I know what the baffle is/does, but is it possible to install it backwards? If it's just a little baffle with a trap door, it could be reversible if it's the right shape.
