Autosolutions short shifter kit

Amazing!!! With out a doubt changes the entire car and is probably the best mod I've done to my car since owning it; and I have all the bolt ons.

It feels a lot crisper and robust. When you're sliding into gear you know immediately that the slot is there and you've placed the gear properly. There's a noticeable clink clink when shifting (kinda like a rifle if you've ever slide a gun chamber) than makes it all the much better. There also less shattering from the trans because the arm on the shifter is stronger and designed better.

In sum, buy it and you'll never look back.

27% reduction in throw btw.

Wished I could have driven an E9x M3 with an Autosolutions shifter before buying my DCT. If it made that much of a difference I might have been swayed to buy a 6MT instead.

I absolutely hated the shifting action and feel on all the manual E9x M3's I've test driven. The best description would be rubbery, vague and notchy. It sounds like the AS shifter fixes all that.

The AS kit is truly incredible. Such a great, great piece of work.

Ronald is no joke. I've had this kit on my E46M for over 100k miles and never had an issue. When I got the E9X I knew I needed this!!!

I want to get one so the shop can install it at the same time they do my rod bearings. Any idea how much labor hours this shifter takes?

I haven't installed mine yet, but to add to the superb quality of the product and the experience you've had with it, the customer has exceeded my expectations of any vendor I've ever worked with. He's extremely knowledgeable and patient. I've asked some dumbass questions and he hasn't hesitated to answer any one of them.

Quoting myself: i pulled the trigger on the AS ssk for the 330Ci now that i have access to a lift over there when i go on holidays

Does more reduction ratio ( 35% or more) make the shifting feel more

positive?

The positive shift feel will be there and will be the same regardless of
shifter height and reduction ratio. on a properly designed shifter that
takes care of all the excessive clearance, the lack of rigidity of the
various parts and the geometry of the linkage the feel will be the same
with a 0% and with a 35%.

Is it possible to set up our cars to shift for example

like Honda S2000?

What you are trading is less travel for more effort. Now the Honda has a
transmission the size of an apple and the BMW one that is like a
pumpkin. So at a given travel the BMW will be harder to shift . That is
because you are moving a lot larger gears.

Whatis the best set up for our car (e9x m3)?

I would say that the additional effort compared to stock is close to
zero up to 15%, very little up to 20% a little more at 25% and quite
noticeable beyond that. Most people get 17-20% shifters.

I can build as low as 11% and will not build beyond 35%. I can also
build at 7% but there is no effective difference between the 7 and the
11. I can also build a true 0% but the cost would be higher and the shifter wouldbe a traditional build and would not feel as positive as the 11 or even 15%.
My recommendation is to go with an 11 to 15% shifter at stock height for what it is worth. the 15% seems to be a sweet spot for a combination of precision and ease of shifting.
