BMW currently has the following race going models in their lineup.... and all racing in North America currently.

M8 GTE
M4 GT4
M240 racing - soon to be replaced by an M2 racing

M8 GTE a car designed for the track first and then the production car came out.

M4 GT4- currently at end of life with new model coming ?

M2 racing - currently being designed on the track ...

Sure seems to me a slam dunk to roll out roadgoing models of the same as M8 CSL, M4 CSL, and M2. CSL.

Unless BMW simply wants to allow Porsche , Mercedes and Audi to take all the race on Sunday and drive on Monday ////marketing and sales.

I can't imagine that they could get anywhere near 3000 pounds. I am also guessing that the CSL would have some version of the S55. It would be really surprising for BMW to introduce a different engine (and a 4 cylinder at that) at the very end of the F8X life cycle...

I think 3300 pounds would probably be the best they could do...but with 450 BHP or more, that would be a very compelling car.

Thanks for the link. Regard the 6GT, perhaps they reconsidered, or perhaps BMW NA jumped the gun? That would not be unheard of. For example, if the announcement was made before it was determined that there was already a large supply of NA-spec 6GT vehicles or sub-assemblies in the pipeline, they may have realized it would be prudent to continue on into MY2020 for a few months. They could simply continue to sell them as MY2019 instead, but of course MY2020 would be more marketable (and this vehicle needs all of the help it can get in that area).

The ordering sheet for 2020 G01 and G02 in Canada shows updated engines. Are there any chance that it gets reversed? Also any chance we get different vehicles from US?

I understand different specs isn't entirely impossible, but I only remember it happening for rarer/smaller sales number vehicles.

The US pricing guide shows "B58M" (the new high output TU engine is B58O) for the 2020 X3 M40i. Also, multiple pages on the BMW NA website, including the just-updated configurator, say that the 2020 model still makes 355hp. The latter is far from reliable in general, but as corroborating source it perhaps has a little more value.

I suppose we won't know for absolute certain that the new engines aren't there until the vehicles arrive at dealerships. It's not looking good at this point.

Yes, although as you say, that is not very common.

In general BMW seems pretty poor at managing incremental updates to models... it seems the Launch-LCI-EOP rinse/repeat is so ingrained in them they lose all ability to communicate or logically manage what content gets added when acting outside that framework

That's a bit unfair, multiple models got off-LCI engine updates, like the F48 and the F34, plus they updated all Diesels to SCR/Euro-6d-temp in 2018.

No, the point isn't that they don't make updates its good that they do, the point is they do a poor job of coordinating them and communicating them.
Some examples:
You have an x3m running a fully different operating system than the lesser models
It's unknown which engine the x3 m40i is shipping with and different answers from different markets (maybe they are different but that goes to the communication item)
Several models that have the components but not being updated to driver assist pro, staying on plus despite pro proliferation throughout the model line

Look if you feel bmw is doing a good job of communicating with you as a consumer then that is your opinion, I feel it is not very good. I will use ford as a good example in this regard every year they tweak the mustang lineup (new model variants/ option changes) a bit and all the changes are usually pretty clear on page one of the order guide and in press releases. Not saying they are perfect but overall that's a better standard to set.

It did. Note the model code change from TS33 to TY93. TY93 uses the new engine.

It's even worse than you think. I've just checked bmw.de, which is normally more precise and up-to-date, its build tool still shows 265kW, even though you can see TY91 in the URL, and any lookup of a TY91 VIN will return "B58D" with 285kW.

Right, because B58O would be O0, and here we have O1. BMW now uses a new sequence of letters for the four-letter engine codes you might find for example in ETK. This started with N63 but became more systematic with the TUs of Bxx motors:

BxxA - K1
BxxB - U1
BxxC - M1
BxxD - O1
B4xE - T1 in UKL models
B4xF - T1 in CLAR models
BxxX - any hybrid using that engine
N63B - N63T3
N74B - N74U1
