Running the BMW branded shell 10w60 TTP that I got as a bundle via FCP Euro. Great to hear, yes that was the temperature the car stayed at during lapping. I'll assume that the car will divert oil/flow as needed when summer comes.

6061 should do it.. I was looking at using it for a similar reason on a different setup.. 1"x 2" aluminum bar weighs about 1kg per foot.. and runs about $30/ft.. should be ok with some extended chro-mo bolts.

I ran Ravenol before because it's cheaper than other options, and the shop I frequent stocks it. Didn't notice any differences vs Castrol 10w60. Currently on the FCP Euro lifetime replacement with the OE stuff, will keep using this for a while.

I hear you on that. I think that's a good last resort. I would rather not have to deal with returning these to get a different set of mounts then sourcing the manual sliders

That's not really too bad. My car runs oil temps like that and has a shitload of cooling.

Consider getting a private coach/instructor. You learn in your own car, at whatever track you want, on your own schedule. Prices are usually on-par with a school and you will get 100% personal attention.

I know that Winding Road Racing does a multi-day class, but it's not cheap. Not sure what the status of Bondurant is given their bankruptcy filing, but they had several classes tailored to wheel-to-wheel racing.

Thanks for the tip, looking into that now

They reuse the electric sliders and have instructions for wiring up an E30 window switch to control the slider. Obviously it adds weight but it's not that bad tbh (it only keeps 1 motor) and it's easier than sourcing a manual slider. I also have some extra switches if you go that route. But I understand it's not a perfect solution. We might need to mix in some miracle gro in a smoothie or something to see if we can get a few more inches lol

Yeah you aren't kidding! I never felt so short in a car before. Considering on the OEM seats I was rubbing my helmet on the headliner.. now my eyes are barely past the dashboard! Good luck to anyone under 5'10 going for a ride... lol

I'm curious how many inches the OEM sliders added overall? 1" 2" 3"? The aluminum block seems like an easy quick fix and I'm wondering what 1" will translate to when it comes to sitting in the seat. If that doesn't pan out then I think I will go your route with the OEM sliders

BK floor mounts vs BK OEM mounts was about 2.5-3" taller. But you could always utilize the different height settings on the bracket if it's too tall.

On the floor mounts I have it at the "highest" setting, could mess around with the front bolts but that would just tilt the seat back.. I can't imagine anyone wanting to sit any lower than this unless they are like 6'7"+ haha

Just call BK and ask directly. I've talked to their tech support before (Ian?) and they're pretty helpful. You can't be the first person to ever have this issue.

Aren't those mounts are steel or stainless steel? I would use a matching material and not aluminum I would not want just use a spacer either. That may cause the bolts to side load.

IMO, those mounts are a bad design because they will cause normally sized people to be way too low.
