I daily a 17 platinum 250 - they are just all around awesome trucks. Only reason I would change is if I start towing longer distances more often - then would start to think about a 450. Other than that perfect truck for me right now (the Carli 2.5" pintops & deaver springs do not hurt either). I would say your chances of buyer's remorse are not too likely when you do make the move.

every single person i've talked to that has one absolutely loves it. i don't think i'll need a dual rear wheel or the 450, because i don't think i'll ever use it to its capacity. the visibility was good, but maneuvering the 250 out of the dealer's back lot made me imagine having the rear wheels hanging out a bit more... i'm thinking of an open trailer for towing either my car or my offroad truck.
i forgot to test out the massaging seats on the test drive... are they good, or sort of a gimmick?

my wife came along and i didn't really tell her a bunch about it before hand (i've been doing research and watching reviews). we have two german shepherds we like to take with us on trips up north to see her parents and visit laguna seca. she loved it just as much as i did. she couldn't believe how well it drove, how comfortable she was, and how much room it had.

Don't get me wrong - the 250 is more than enough for what I put it through right now - extremely capable and ride & comfort as good as you describe. The 450 would be a consideration when I start trailering out a ways - which is the plan within a couple of years. Would be pulling a larger trailer but more about the brakes, turning radius, & extra rear wheels.

Funny you mention the massaging seats - I hadn't even tried them until a couple of weeks ago. They are actually not that bad. I mean were not talking Robert Kraft / Orchids of Asia good - but they are surprisingly not as shitty as I thought they would be.

I pull an open car trailer (featherlite) right now - barely even feel it back there when loaded.

No issues with the wife test here either - easily passed

And just an FYI - they can just as easily turn into a money pit as your M3 when you start finding all the fun stuff to add...

I actually haven't touched anything engine / performance related - for me not worth risking warranty & really haven't found the need to. Now suspension and a few other dress up and/or functional goodies - yeah I'm guilty there.

I have an '18 Chevy 3500HD with the Duramax, I love that truck - my wife loves it as well which I did not expect when we bought it. She has ended up really liking it and it's the full 4 door long bed limo version. It's basically my Dad minivan on the weekends.

The new Fords are super nice, but they have a track record of trying new crap in the engine that ends up being "a bad idea" down the road. Too many buddies have been stranded on the side of the road with engine trouble and eventually get rid of the trucks. That said one of them just bought a brand new F350!

On the wings. It takes a splitter that sticks out 5" to balance out a full size GT wing at a relatively shallow angle of attack. With more angle you need like 6" or 7" of splitter. If you have nothing up front I would not do much past a spoiler.

With a GT4 style front splitter I have my APR GT250 set basically flat, with the air moving over the back of the car it's likely at an angle of attack of around 5-7 degrees, and that is still with it way up there. The air doesn't track horizontal across any car and even a tall wing will see air coming in at an angle.

Some reference stuff I used when I designed and built the wing for my old Evo.

Come on, who was voting? The 7.3L vs 6.0L is old news anyway. The newer 6.7L and its turbos are what have left my buddies sitting on the side of the road.

Got my solid subframe and diff bushings pressed in, now just need to reinstall all this mess. FYI, I went with AKG for the diff and Turner for the subframe (because Turner had an awesome deal back around Christmas).

Also, when I dropped my diff I realized that it was leaking fluid at the axle seals. Looked like it was leaking a fair amount, but I pulled the filler plug (before pulling the drain plug) and it was barely pouring out of the filler plug, so it wasn't leaking very much (when I do a refill, I always pump until it's spilling out a bit then put the plug back in). I'm guessing that it must have just been slightly weeping for an extended period of time - I'm at 156k miles after all. So anyway, I decided to go ahead and replace both axle seals because it's never gonna be easier than with the diff on the floor. Also this was the first time I was able to fully drain the diff. After slightly tilting it until the drain plug hole stopped pouring out, I then picked the whole thing up and turned it sideways and a good bit more came out. Also checked the roller bearings that mate the axle to the diff internals and both of them were in seemingly pristine condition. Overall it was a pretty easy job, and I don't think it would be too much more difficult with the diff on the car. The only issue I ran into was the metal ring/cover that you unbolt took a good bit of persuasion to get off, not terrible though. I also rolled the dice on a cheap Amazon seal remover kit and it ended up working out perfectly. So $26 well spent!

My 2007 Chevy Silverado LT3 CC diesel dually was a great truck. Very comfy and had a high WAF (wife acceptance factor) with heated leather seats and a quiet interior. Extremely easy to drive w/the Allison transmission. Wife drove it w/the 10k lb trailer behind down the 5 after racing at T-Hill and anywhere else it needed to go. We were 18,800lbs loaded between the two.

Hauled our dog with ease, including, unfortunately the last trip we took together to the vet... Picture is of his first day in our house when we adopted him. Knew he wasn't supposed to go into the kitchen, but really wanted to.

I imagine the newer trucks are even better.

LOL at the 6.0 vs. 7.3 comment. I remember those days well. We 7.3 owners (oh yes, I had a 1997 7.3 w/5 speed manual) called it the 6-uh-oh motor. I got a used shell and transfer flow 74 gallon tank -- add the two stock 18 gallon tanks and you're talking 1000 mile *towing* range. Too bad I have a 200 mile bladder...

Compared to the 11 year newer Chevy, this truck was LOUD, had no power (even with a Tony Wildman 4-position flip switch installed) and rode like, well, a truck. Wife didn't like it much at all and wouldn't drive it.
