For those of us with pre LCI cars, the cost to benefit ratio is lower. Once you purchase the seats and LCI modules, the cost is in the Recaro bracket and the benefits are gone.
This is an excellent OEM mod, and definitely updates the interior. Being the seats are the only thing I like about the F8X M3/4, this is a viable solution. Very good OP, and I hope this thread gets a sticky for those who wish to do this mod in the future.

Rear seat install parts
Rear seat install complete
Here is my conclusion to the rear seat conversion, took a bit more time that I wanted with it but everything fits as fully functional as can be had, id say 98%. Only minor unavoidable detail due to the f8x seat back being too wide is the seats can not fold completely parallel or the latch assemblies wont line up. Therefore when the seats are folded down together they will have slight pressure against each other in the full down position... Relocation Brackets Backrests -- I choose to ditch my original plan to trim the backrest outside chassis mounting locations. The f8x pivot assembly makes the seat backs too wide for the factory e9x location with any hardware whatsoever. However by removing the hardware and forming an extruded sleeve which the seatback hardware locations now pivot inside they are able to work without modification to the car. Pivot locations were moved forward and downward for latch assembly alignment and overall seat fitment. The pivot bracket also has a relief to prevent chafing of the heated seat harness....Lower center support for the backrests was also relocated for proper alignment of the new pivot position. The backrests are now much easier to remove than the E9x setup Bottom Cushion -- Nothing to do clips right in Side Bolsters -- Only 1 of 3 locating tabs works for these and overall without the correction brackets they dont do much more than sit in place.... 1-Outside lower door frame location guide fits... 2-Inside lower pivot location guide falls short of the E9x location, the new backrest pivot brackets have new locations relocated, rotated and raised for proper fitment. 3-Top clip does not work at all, it is in the wrong place entirely.. The retaining clips were removed from the side bolster and new brackets which bolt to the car interact with a new bolster clamp and relocate the bolster to the correct position in the E9x Relocation Kit Side Backrest/Bolster Relocation Bracket Center Backrest Relocation Bracket Top Bolster Relocation Bracket Backrest Top Clamp |

You guys get what looks to be a flatter base out of a regular 3 series, not sure that it would affect the driving position though, comfort perhaps.

I am in love with this mod, though I have an '08 so it sounds like it is not the best plan for me.
Looks like there is no ski-bag hole (not that I use it). Do you have any pics of the rear seats folded down?

Verrrry cool. I've done searches on this in the past and only hit people that had the same idea but hadn't tried. Fantastic to know it can be done. Props for all the work put into this.

Rear seats, in real life, I found E90 seat more comfortable. F80 + E90 are both nicely padded, sits higher than front seats, but E90's adjustable headrest is more comfortable. Oh, the worst part is F80 does NOT have center armrest or cup holders, this was so annoying on a 2+hr roadtrip in my experience

It's a shame that they cost so much. OP got a hell of a deal!
Did you get it to light up the M3 logo like the new F8x cars?
