lol... that makes more sense.

There is an option...

Step 1: get exacto knife
Step 2: cut hole in center of expensive seat
Step 3: 6 point harness hahahaha

I'm actually also selling a pair of fixed back seats if anyone is in the market. Driver side was used exactly 1 time and passenger never sat in.

They're Bimarco Expert 2 seats, European brand, FIA certified and super comfy. Very similar to Sparco Ergos in design and fitment for a 6ft tall 175lbs person.

Funny thing is, I actually considered that.
(not cutting, but opening up the stitching that could be repaired later)

Biggest problem was all the gear and framework under there.

I'm in the process of moving my Cobra Evo's over from my Z4MC.
So, no longer a problem.

It actually wouldn't be that bad if you went through the thin leather between the extendable thigh bolster thing... you could just mount an eye under the seat using the Macht Schnell sub bracket using the 2 front/rear OEM bolt locations for the seat, rear might be better since you want a ~20* angle under the seat for the ASM strap.

You cannot do this unless the seat was specifically designed for anti-sub straps. Schroth and the other harness manufacturers are very clear about this.

I'm sorry but seeing this kind of stuff about cutting a hole in a seat to fit a six point is ridiculous and a huge pet peeve. Save up and put a proper fixed back seat and a 6 point in. I don't trust a reclining "race seat"

I agree, but to be clear it wasn't a straight 6pt fitment.
It was a quick fit pro which is already ASB rated.
The QFP clasp has provision for adding lower belts.
I looked, but rejected the idea.
Safety is everything!!!

I wasn't going to move my Cobra Evos with full 6pt Schroth over from the other car until the fall.
But those plans have moved forward, along with half cage.

I never used this ASM strap with an OEM seat but I used a backing plate with an eyelet and drilled a small hole in the floorboard of the car and bolted it through on the E82 track car. You could likely use the Macht Schnell sub bracket with a washers to give you some room between the carpet and the bracket. You may have to drill two holes that align with the OEM seat mounting bolts to make it work. You could easily fab a steel bracket that's as wide as the OEM seat mounts and bolt that to the floor and then mount the ASM to that.

My E92 M3 is still a virgin with no mods besides BE bearings, planning on installing my Xpipe, intake, Arc-8s, DCT refresh and coilovers next week though. Possibly fixed back seats although I love the OEM seats so this is still up in the air. If I end up fabbing up an ASM mounting bracket that works with OEM seats I'll be sure and notify you, could be useful for dual duty cars who want to have the safety of an ASM Device + Schroth QFP

Okay, I'm no drag racer but... I can beat magazine times with my other car consistently, and the m3 is easy to drive but just seems off-pace.

2nd time I took M3 to drag and only getting 105mph just barely into 4th. Horrible ET, 13.5s with a 2.1 60'

Previous event I was getting 106mph and similar ETs. Seems low even for an 08 manual? Only mod is the MS air intake stuff.

"Corrected" data is 13.0@109, so I guess that's about right.

So I was out at the track again yesterday and was making a conscious effort to adjust my braking technique. It paid off: lap time was nearly 3s faster than just a few weeks ago on the same track under the same conditions. I'll dig into the data tonight to see specifically why, but that puts me only 1.5s off my PB at the track (which was set on Cup 2s, while I'm on PSS now).

Thanks again for the assistance!

It was a sad day letting my e92 M3 go but the new car has now arrived so thought I would share. 2018 6MT ZCP w/ cloth seats, can't wait to get it on track!

That's huge, just in braking. Interested in seeing what you did differently.

Thanks dogbone for the recommendation! I'm now using cobalt friction xr1's up front. Great bite, great torque, and I don't have to go way into the pedal to get it. I was impressed with these pads, and I'm a fan.
They are easy to jab in the shorter braking zones without activating abs. These pads are supposed to be easier on the rotors than my previous dsUNO pads.

The owner Andie is very generous with his time in the way he talks to you about your specific setup. I'm impressed with the service and the pads!
What kind of longevity are you getting out of the Cobalts? I'm in front brake pad shopping mode.

I run them on the front and rear. They will last me around 4 or more days depending on the track here in Texas with street driving. That with the AP racing brakes with 18mm pad.

Yes, I'm quite happy. I need to dig a bit deeper to see where I picked up the time. A quick re-watch of that lap's video shows I probably lost an additional 0.5s just due to traffic in one spot.

I was getting into the ABS a bit less too, not sure if that was a function of the fact we've had consistently warm temperatures or what. Sometimes the car's ABS goes into "ice mode" on the track which makes modulation nearly impossible.

I'm trying to understand why I developed this habit and what I need to start doing differently, including any obvious signs of you just overslowed/you're about to overslow.
like other people mentioned, you brake too late, and causes you to panick when you trail brake.
i agree that trail braking is a good way to drive the e92.
When you brake late, maybe try to look really far (corner exit) right after you hit the brakes and keep your eyes looking at the berms at exit. Dont try to look forward.....your brain will automatically tell you when to start to ease off the brakes...if you look forward, most likely you will over brake because you are focusing on making the car to slow down, and not come out fast on exit.

I will keep that in mind, thanks. Maybe I am looking too much at the turn-in point instead of corner exit and beyond. That's fast driving 101: look ahead, not right in front of you.

Yeap
That is something very basic but something very easy to forget. I actually gotta focus on that depending on how scary the turn is because my eyes sometimes wanna look forward lol.
Just mentioned in case you forgot lol.

There were times I was so positive the car would not slow down enough, but by looking far, made my brain to believe in more lol

Unfortunately, not much longevity. This is because of three factors;
-I track with MDM on
-the tracks I visited were hard on brakes
-the ap J-hook rotors tend to eat pads at a slightly higher rate.

I got one day at Sonoma, one day at laguna, and about two seasons at willow springs before the pads were done.
I did like the pads, lots of torque and bite, easy to modulate and trail brake with. Good stuff. Another thing I liked was they let me know they were done without chunking off.

Are you going to get another set or look for something more longevity? Talked to Andie today btw and tried to give you the referral credit but when I said uhhh he’s a dude on the M3 forum named “roastbeef” ...
