DCT acting funky

Hey guys, need some opinion here. My DCT has been doing some random things once in a while. So, first of all i should mention that Deansbimmer found a leak in my side gasket but from what it sounds like, its not critical and can be addressed some time this year. The car also just hit 80k miles. So here are a couple of concerns.

1) In D mode, it never downshifts to the 1st gear, it always stays in D2 even when the car is not moving. From what i heard its not normal but i bought the car this way and never knew any different.

2) Today i was getting on the highway ramp and just dropped to manual to shift around 3k rpm. Once i got to 60+ mph, i dropped it into D again and it went to D4 and i was like WTF did i do???!!! I went back into manual, shifted to 7th again, put it in D again and it stayed in D7.

The car does not have DCT software, all stock software. I was going to try launch control this weekend to race my friends M5 but now questioning whether or not i should do it. Thoughts?

Get the fluid swapped out and filled. I'm guessing you are low on fluid from the leak.

Bro what shift level are you in? Sounds like you're using the lowest setting (1) which always starts in 2nd gear. It also wants to shift to 7th gear as soon as possible. Shift mode 2 and up start in 1st gear.

I could have sworn you were in Drivelogic 3 when I was in your car. If you are in 1 then try changing it up and see how it behaves. You can also change its default in iDrive under the M-Mode settings.

Im pretty sure im on the lowest level when in automatic mode. Today i put it in Drivelogic 2 and it was starting from the 1st gear, so that problem solved Now, does the deal with 4th gear make sense to you? Im starting to think to get a DCT tune.

If it does it repeatedly then look into it. The DCT does occasional strange things according to its adaptive nature.
