Carrillo Rod Bolt Kit for BMW E9X M3 S65?
So looked a little didnt really find much here, So are these Carrillo Rod Bolt Kits better then the ARP 2000 kit, claims there stronger and reusable, This is what add says "The WMC bolt is superior to a typical ARP 2000 bolt with an ultimate tensile strength of 260,000 psi. These kits ship with Carrillo bolt lube to be used during installation." Torque spec is 55/lbs.
Thoughts? looks like there available, maybe.

I'm racing the stock BMW parts for years in my S65 and never had any problems with the bolts so I'm wondering. Where's the advantage of ARP of Carrillo bolts?

This is the overwhelming advantage in my opinion. Don't know if they're better or worse, but the install is a lot easier.

I personally have used ARP many many times with no issues..and while I dont disagree that the research is there that these may have some upsides...Ill continue to use what I know works great!

BUMP - has anyone installed these in their car or compared them against the BE (ARP2000) custom bolts? Will probably swap my rod bearings out in the near future and ran accross these Carrillo bolts sold by Lang Racing. They are a little more expensive than the BE bolts but not by much.

I don't agree (regardless of what CP/Carrillo says) that you should EVER re-use the following items: Rod bolts, head studs/bolts. They are torqued, heated up/cooled down many times in their life cycle, and stretch over this time period... Giving incorrect torque specifications when assembling for the second time. Just my $0.02

It's been documented that the standard ARP bolts in the S54 and S65 distort the bore due to being too strong. I would either use the standard OEM bolt or the BE-ARP one. The advantage of the BE-ARP one is, as pbonsalb stated, simply install is way way easier |

I had a set of ARP head studs that I reused 3 or 4 times on a turbo S52 motor. No issues. I would reuse head studs and rod bolts from Carillo or ARP.

IMO use Carrillo if you’re installing carillo rods. Use BE’s ARP bolts if you’re installing BE bearings. Both engineered their bolts to yield the roundest bore when used with their matching products. It would make no sense to mix and match when each mfg already offer an ideal solution.
If you’re using some other combination then use the standard ARP2000 set. Many don’t suggest the 625 bolts as they may introduce distortion. They are not torque to yield bolts. All ARP bolts are reusable as long as they stay within stretch limits. (You can still measure stretch in an external fixture to determine if they’ve stretched after multiple uses). |

Lang Racing posted on the Carillo bolts. Lang specifies a torque that it determined works with the stock rods. I think they began using Carillo bolts due to issues with ARPs.

If you're assembling an engine with rods out of the block then you hone the rod bores after torquing to spec. This is the only way you can ensure a truly round bore with whatever hardware is being used. |

According to Lang, they are specifically designed for the S65 to preserve the roundness of the bore while still facilitating easier installation with the engine in car. Are you saying these are actually manufactured by ARP for Carillo (and Lang)? |

i think you are correct. I still need to look into how the BE ARPs (i believe these are ARP 2000 as well?) differ from the standard ARP 2000 bolts.

VAC has special ARP bolts also that it sells with its bearings. If you buy ARP bolts for the S65 from ARP, you get ones that cause problems, but if you buy BE ARP bolts or Lang Carillo ARP bolts or VAC ARP bolts, they work,
