There is no situation I can think of that an LT1, for instance, wouldn't be a better crate? Why subject yourself to the huge OHC cylinder head if you're already fighting every other part of the swap? And you get DI if you use the new Chevy crates. Also and I know this isn't an NA solution, but it appears based on dimensions the LSA would fit under the hood of our cars...heh
If you must DOHC I think Ford sells a better crate for the money But somebody should totally develop a bolt-in mercury marine swap kit for these cars and sell it for the price of a Dinan stroker, it'd probably still be cheaper on black friday ![]() EDIT: Ok, Chevy Performance's website is extremely irritating. LS9's are seriously cheaper complete than an S65. What in the world

value is something we can all debate over and over.
If you want the most out of your S65, it isn't cheap. I have a dinan stroker in a 1 series bmw. I could have had more power for a lot cheaper with turbo upgrades... but everything isnt about power. The S65 has a lot of amazing qualities which are not simply quantified by price or by HP. And price aside, my street car ran on COTA as fast as some of the Ford factory assisted GT350RC Imsa car and it did so with less power, less aero, AC, Carpets and a radio. I respect what OP is doing and like many in here am waiting to see the gains from the cam. I expect 12-15hp. |

I'm as guilty, in the past, as anybody of that sometimes, but it's lame and I was lame for saying it(usually, sometimes it's justified...heh, but for the times it wasn't I am ashamed of my lameness). Making cars faster, even a teeny bit, is fun. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF A CAR OR WE'D JUST WALK /rant Also...there is a continuum of driver skill. If you've been up-close wheel to wheel with top-tier drivers who can and have won against anybody on a good day, you know take the extra 12hp because those guys are basically cheating ![]()

We are all enthusiasts here and we all take enjoyment from our cars differently. Generally on the forums you have builders and drivers. Most of us are somewhere inbetween. Many people don't live near tracks and their enjoyment reflects that. In a hardware discussion, which this is, there is always value in bringing new information to the table. There is very little information on cams and regardless of OP gain, he is contributing to the platform and there is great value in that. |

That's what I expect as well. Still if you can get 15whp just from cams and 10 more from BW's LT headers, well, that's pretty good.

Forgot about the hydraulic lifters in the S65. Now I see why Dinan made their stroker and didn't bother to put cams in it.

I can see I’m just going to have to buy some and find out. I’ll be nice and do the before/after dyno runs.

I tried asking the pit crew guys at the Texas Lemans series when Telemex was using the dinan motors and they said they were not sure. I tried getting more information but never could. I would think that the race motors wouldn't utilize the vanos system therefore cams would be the way to go vs vanos.
