Akra question

Recent purchase of a 08 e90 w/ 25k on the clock...
car has OE muffler and an RPI X pipe...

not fond of the high pitch note nor the chrome tips

will buying the Akra muffler do the trick... as in I hope
the Evolution is not required to improve the note...

your thoughts?

I have an Akra axle-back (CF tips) paired with a Challenge Sport x-pipe with HFCs. The sound is not high pitched; instead, it has a deeper bass sound to it. I had an AA axle-back paired with an AA x-pipe with HFCs - this setup had a high pitched wail that screamed like a banshee!

If you want a deeper sound then I think you'd be happy with an Akra axle-back, and the Akra Ti or CF tips would address your chrome tip concern.

thanks for the reply...

but the question really is, what sonic or performance increases would I obtain if I used the Akra Evolution over the Akra slip on when the slip on is combined with the RPI X-pipe, which I already own (the X-pipe that is)

Where did you ask about performance in the OP? You asked a question about exhaust note, not increase in performance.

I'm not familiar with the RPI x-pipe but if it's a well-designed x-pipe then there'd be very little difference in power gained between an RPI x-pipe + Akra axle-back setup and an Akra Evo setup.

You are right.... I never did ask about that... but it dawned on me later!!

I did not think it warranted removing something I own for no advantage: tone, looks OR performance!!!!!!

You can always sell the RPI x-pipe if you switch to an Akra Evo setup. There's no difference in performance between a used vs. new Akra (Evo or axle-back only) setup. Just request detailed pics of the used setup to ensure there's no damage. Plus the price of a used setup makes it a better buy

I have akra axle back and really like it on my e90. Deeper than stock, not too much louder, no drone.
