If pulling the engine is a strong deterrent for someone, then doing the main bearings is basically impossible. I really enjoy my E90 M3. I wish the motor was as bullet proof as an LS3, but it's not. I'm open to spending some money and a fair amount of time to preserve my enjoyment of my car.

I know someone locally here in Toronto that changed the main bearing without pulling the engine out of the car but he said he would NEVER do that again. He says if hes going to do it, he will pull the engine for sure. The engine has been supercharged and running meth for the past 25,000km with 0 issues. So I guess it was a success.

There's some photos of my engine:
![]() ![]() As you can see, block is heavily damaged. ![]() Here we see bearings welded with crankshaft. ![]() And this is rod bearings condition - not bad, I would say. It's only 30k miles. But main bearings looks much worse, as for me. See photos below: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
