10psi tune

Was curious if anyone knew of a company that has or would be able to do a 10psi tune. My car currently has vf620 on it. I have the 650 pulley for it not yet installed. But was thinking of goin to ahead and getting the 10psi which i believe would be a 3.25 pulley. I dont really want to install the 8psi pulley and pay for another tune for that if i plan on going 10psi on it anyway. Thanks for the help/newb question

No one will do it because you will blow your motor on stock internals. 10 psi + 12.0:1 compression ratio = Kaboom. People who run higher than 8psi (vf650/ess650 kits) have upgraded internals and probably higher capacity fuel systems.

If not kaboom, then your margin of safety is very low.

E85 or properly done meth injection would take care of the detonation risk. But the you run into the issue of the strength of the factory rods. A centrifugal is as gentle on rods as there is in forced induction but 10 psi from a V3 Si Trim could make 650 rwhp and over 400 lbs rwtq from an S65. The consensus seems to be that 400 lbs rwtq is about the limit for the rods, but there is not much data to go on. If you don't mind taking the risk, I am sure there are some who would be interested in the results.

why not see how the 650 tune and car perform before making the huge jump?
do you have a full exhaust system and is your subframe/trailing arms setup correctly? i'm against methanol but have you considered that or a fuel system on e85? unless you are going for a 1/4 , 1/2 or mile records the 10psi realm is risky.

3.25 is not a 10 psi pully lol that is a 82mm pulley that's like 13 psi lol. the 10psi pullis like 88mm.

This is incorrect. gzim335 is running 11psi on e85 with a gintani fuel system and he is factory motor. he now going for building the car to use a t trim.

Misinformation that running 10psi will leave a small margin of safety with no internal work or fuel system upgrade? Can you share your experience with your supercharged M3 with us?

Why are supercharger kits capped at 650 hp? With a simple change of a pulley, they can make waaay more power, but no one sells a kit for it. .

Tuners always leave a large safety margin since they have liability and would get a bad reputation if they blew up a bunch of motors. An individual may choose to reduce or eliminate that margin, at his own risk. The tuners seem to agree that around 600/400 is the safe limit based on their top offerings. I'd guess roughly 20% higher is the breaking point. Just a guess. Might take a few broken motors to actually know.

Well, we do have the example of the Twin Turbo with stock motor internals that bent the rods. It was running at 10+ PSI

10 psi from a centrifugal does not necessarily equal 10 psi from a turbo. Torque is the issue for the rods; cylinder pressure, timing and octane are the main factors for detonation.

Oh forgot to add E85 will be/is currently ran on my car since march even what it was N/A. AFD has a flex fuel kit. And so the 88mm pulley is the way to go?

And i roll race lol. 40/50 hits

I am doing full internals with low comp pistons (10.5:1).. I'd like to upgrade my VT2-585 pulley from my current ~6psi to 10psi on E85, but ESS won't even talk about E85 to me. Once the build is done I'm going to stick with my current setup until I've done a proper shakedown, but then I'm sure I'd like to up the power since I'm spending so much on the build. I like E85 (run it on my Evo), and it definitely gives some piece of mind, especially with the lame 91 fuel available in California.

Thanks!

S.

The fuel pump cant handle the flow you will need for E85 and 10 psi.

Yeah, ill prob just do 8psi on e85 for now till i find a solution to feed enough fuel. I know a few guys who do that on vf650 kits running e85.

V3 Si even make 11,00 psi my car has 72 MM and mazimun boost is 10,8 during Shift.
More than 1 year running 650 WHP no issues .
Engine Stock.
However my car has a Syvecs ECU new Fuel system and we running 100% Methanol on pump gas.

I think DLSJ5 came up with a fuel pump solution that he used on his built motor high boost ESS car and that others with VT3 kits have used it also. Gintani may also make a fuel pump kit. Its not as simple as just dropping a bigger pump in the tank, but I don't know the details. I am not sure you can do 8 psi on E85 with the stock pump so look into that first.

93 pump plus a 50/50 water/methanol in a quantity of about 20% is similar to 100 octane race gas. To push the limits you really want a direct port kit -- 8 nozzles one into each runner to each throttle body and you want to tune for it. The problem is I don't think you can have a safeguard with the stock ecu should flow stop. 2ndary injection is not as reliable as factory fuel injection. E85 through the factory injection is safest.

I don't think meth is unreliable. It's just not as reliable. I have used it for over 15 years on various cars. My turbo e36 flows about 15-20% water/meth to fuel, using 25 percent water and 75 percent meth, through a nozzle on each manifold runner, but is not tuned specifically for the meth. Been running meth on that car for 10 years. My 08M3 is naturally aspirated but I run about 20% water/meth to fuel using 25% water and 75% meth through 2 nozzles in the head of the air filter, and the car is tuned for it using a Vishnu Procede that increases timing and has a failsafe reverting to stock if flow stops. Been running that system for 4-5 years.
