Would you upgrade from ESS 595 to 650 supercahrger?

I bought the car with the 595 kit already on it. Winter is coming and I was considering the upgrade to the 650 kit . ESS is charging about $3400 for the upgrade.

Option 1) Go with ESS for the $3400

Option 2) Piece together the hardware and get a BMP tune

Option 3) Leave it alone

I enjoy the car a lot and I have no intentions on selling it. It's a great family sedan and fills the void of my older motorcycle days before kids . With that being said, just wanted to get some feedback.

Get a 94mm pulley, blue injectors and a tune, save more than 1/2 and buy stickier tires.

That's what I am thinking but will ESS sell a separate 7 rib 94mm kit ?

I have a few emails out to them now that should be answered in the morning.

Do you have a part number for those blue injectors?

Decide on what tuner you are going to choose and see what injector they recommend. My blue Bosch injectors are part number
0 280 155 892

Those were purchased directly from ESS but uncertain if they modify them in any way.
And to also clarify, the 650 7 rib system does not use the 94mm pulley. They use a different size blower pulley and crank pulley to net the desired psi.

Has anyone had belt slippage with smaller supercharger pullies and the 6 rib setup? I'm wondering when the 7 rib setup is necessary.

The white Bosch injectors work up too 625 HP . No need to swap injectors . Buy the 98mm pulley stay at the 625 mark.

The injectors are machined I believe.
The pulley offset if machines as well. You can buy a pulley and machine it , then Get a 2115 belt . Or resource a 98mm 625 pulley .

I?ve considered the 7 rib design , I?m sure you?ll get less belt slip , I?m not experiencing any slip at 7-8psi . I?m sure the higher psi, the 7 rib makes more sense.

I wouldn?t spend 3400 on 55 HP

I?d spend 1000 Get my 625 and buy better tires . Or find another few ponies in exhaust etc

A close friend upgraded from the ESS 625 to the ESS 650 and said the difference was clear and completely worth it

Regarding going with another tuner, I'll say this: I would **never** tune a supercharged car with someone different than the kit creator. ESS has sold literally thousands of kits and has most of the entries in the dyno database and airfield events... I don't know what you expect to gain out of moving to a different tuner

ESS and VF have there injectors machined down to sit in the rail. or you can buy bosche green which are larger than the blue and run them with the spacers active auto sells. That's what I did with my kit I have a 625kit with a green injectors unmachined. its more of a challenge to tighten the clamps for the manifold but looking at the fact you can buy the injectors direct from a bosche dealer for 450 compared to 900 from either ess or vf Ill spend the extra 10mins tightening the clamps gladly. If you are having a belt slippage just go to a smaller belt. the 625k uses a 6840k belt you can just got to nappa or auto zone and get a size smaller. that upgrade total should only cost you 1500 dollars at best and that would only be because you will need a new tune from bpm or ttfs which will be 1k. the injectors 450, and the belt is 12 dollars.

This is an ESS-approved upgrade. OP should be able to do this. Note that he already has a price.

notice I said certain upgrades. I.e if he choose to go with a blower pulley to get to the 650boost level. instead of buying the ess pulley kit which changes the alternator , crank and blower pully they will not want to tune it. even thought the same boost level will be achieved. so in that case it would be better to go with bpm or ttfs or maybe rktunes. the price difference vortch pullies are 81 dollars. new belt is 12 dollars. tune is 1k. compared to 3500. there is a actual reason to consider out side of their tuning in that case.

i'd look for a full cat replacement with no cats or hfc to free up some more hp.

it's recommended on ess' website to use hfc and 93 oct. it's not a must but that's what it says.

93AKI/98RON or above required. *HFC or cat-delete mid-section recommended.

I can lose 25 HP just in temp alone , I believe the calculation is for every 10 degrees increase in temp is 1% loss in overall power .

Ess has a canned tune just like the others, these are cookie cutters tunes, I wouldnt go as far as saying just because the ess makes the hardware we are restricted to buying only their tune..... if you want max results you need to tune on the dyno on the fly . Talk to people like frank smith tunning , Even bpm will tell you this is correct.

Every car runs a little different. I actually prefer my AFR that bpm gave me over what ess runs .

Ess has no interest in helping me , bpm. Got my business . End of story .

Yup, that is why the entries in the dyno database and the 60-130 database are dominated by ESS systems on stock tunes...

Dominate, yes. Stock tune? well...not quite. A quick look in regard to the 60-130 data, out of the top ten listed here on the forums only one ESS setup seems to have a stock tune, 3 are other brands, the others are built motors, have higher octane, and/or built motors(i.e. ESS VT4 800, VT4 750, & 725)
