They are just as much of a problem as the rod bearings from all examples I've seen.

Sounds normal. You can't "hear" rod bearings, once you can hear them the motor is practically done cause you'd be knocking even before you hit 2500rpm. The best way to know how your bearings are wearing is to do an oil analysis check and look for high lead or copper content.
That being said, just do the rod bearing change and stop worrying about it.

Not sure yet. I have a friend going through some bearings from other engines/manufacturers to see if there is anything off the shelf that might work.

+1. Opinion shared in the video is only going to confuse those who need less confusion on the matter. You can't make informed assumptions about an issue if you don't even know the makeup of the bearing types you're looking at.

Interesting, it does calm down more when it's warmed up. And I doubt it s spark plugs just got them done a month ago:

Hopefully you'll find this info a little helpful. The video compares 702/703 bearings (tin/aluminum) with 088/089 bearings (lead/copper) and essentially says: "mine don't look as bad as those, therefore mine and all others that look like mine are fine." Unfortunately, that's a very bad comparison because the two bearings are totally different from each other in how they look with excessive wear.

You have 702/703 bearings. As 702/703 bearings go, yours are some of the most heavily worn I've seen. In other words, they're in pretty bad shape.

The second thing wrong was mixing upper and lower shells and thinking they both wear the same. They don't. Uppers always wear much more than lowers. Often times the lowers show no wear at all. Your lowers show quite a bit of wear -- for lower shells. That's another reason I say for 702/703 bearings, yours were some of the most heavily worn I've seen.

22K miles, with about 2k at the track....was going to run my oil analysis to start questioning the BE replacement. think it is time?
