The stock airbox has the much bigger opening from your driver's side front air duct as well as the scoops from the kidney grill area to get all the air it needs.

My Dyno yesterday. 480whp and 370wtq 85 degrees and pretty humid. Dct in 4th gear. Afe dry filter Bimmerworld resonated xpipe Armytrix Exhaust CSF dct and water radiators 93 octane. It's a dynapak but it reads like a dynojet. My old turbo s2000 made 550whp on this Dyno and it's able to walk FBO + tune GTRs Do I wish it was 500whp even yes But I am happy with the performance of the stage 1 and customer service. I will be testing on track performance in the fall. And trying to get my hands on a performancebox to measure 60-130 time.Last edited by eternallx; 08-17-2017 at 09:07 AM.. |

I am talking about heat getting out of the engine bay, not air getting into the engine. Hot air rises and the only way up is the vent the is not connected to anything?

One hood vent is pretty much connected to the top intake on the air box. The other hood vent is a dummy with only a small hole to drain any water. Hardly any heat would escape from these hood vents.

As for the noise origin, it is essentially due to the fact that it is before the throttle blades. |

I really would like to go for a ride an a Harrop equipped M3, but I am yet to find one in SE FL. If the noise is tolerable at cruising, this may change the whole thing. I really don't care about the noise at high RPM. |

Oh I didnt know but from previous dynos I've seen in the past when they do 4th or 5th it really didnt make a difference. But regardless of the numbers, I'll post as many real world performance numbers and situations as I can. Might be able to get a Racelogic performancebox soon and I have a friend with a GTR with minor mods in the works Without cats

You can also follow what I posted on page 11, just plug the hood vent with some foam. And there is no way this reduces the noise by 30%, id say 10-15 at best in the cabin. Not much difference to the outside world. But things may be different with a stock airbox. My metal one probably makes it worse. Or better depending on how you look at it. The noise is really part of the fun.

wouldn't heat escape through the vents? i'd rather have them open with a little bit of noise vs trapping in exhaust heat

On another note, I get my car back on Friday, it's looking fantastic. Hoping to put the larger injectors in and some E85 tuning if time permits next weekend. |
