I bought hood vents specific to the E9X M3 from forum member Lawlence. His website is n15design.com Really happy with the quality and fit.

Did either of you do any pressure testing to ensure the proper placement of the vents (ie. making sure they are in a low pressure area)? Do you have any before/after temps to see how much it helped?

Thanks for the links. Just trying to figure out if uselessness is E92 M3 specific or across-the-board snake oil.

Also on a side note. I went with the koyorad radiator over csf
My car is still street driven. So unfortunately, I won't be deleting the AC. Maybe one day though. I feel a pair of fixed backs and a kirk roll bar are in my future.

When I purchased the CSF radiator, it was heavily discounted. Figured I'd give it a shot. A guy over on M3F had the same issue as me. Wound up being a bad fan clutch. Might pick up a new fan clutch or Mishimoto's electric fan conversion and see if that fixes my problem.

No data, I am doing a bunch of stuff at one time and prior to starting I did not have any data as a baseline. All I can say is they are well made.

I know the air flow is probably different but someone on the E90 forums did some testing for a vented hood on a 335i.

I talked to Lawrence and he said they have done some airflow testing to determine proper placement. Since the Tracspec guys never replied to my email and they do not have an E9x specific vent, I'm leaning towards going with Lawrence's vents.

VW has a super cheap lease offer ($70/mo) on the e-golf with little down. All of these car companies are offering pretty wild deals on EVs for the CA credits. I picked up a 2yr old Fiat for $6,500 still under factory warranty for 1.5yr and battery warranty for ~6yrs. Previously I was paying $15/day for parking and gas, yet to see the PGE bill increase/decrease.

Really it's just allowing me to enjoy my E82 for longer while being too impatient to wait for the Model 3.
Where are you guys finding these super cheap leases? The best I see for an e-golf is $159/mo.

I found the sub $100 E-Golf lease price about a month ago. Maybe a CA-only thing?

The ev market is largely a big city thing. Some are exclusive to CA and NY.

Installed the Fortune Auto 500 coilovers! 5 clicks from soft really soaks up the bumps better than OEM! I have a track day in Aug 3 then two more a week after in California! I did my camber settings -3 front and -2.5 rear. I also scored a free set used of NT01! Probably has maybe one track day left but Im interested to feel how they grip.

So I was on my way to Road Atlanta for the weekend when a semi truck decided to have a tire blowout right in front of me and threw the damn tread right on the front of my car. At first inspection it looked like just cosmetic stuff, but later on I realized it smacked the bottom of my oil cooler and dented it up and a little bit back horizontally (so it was kind of folded in on itself), which ended up hampering some of my fun, but at least it was driveable. Getting it appraised tomorrow. Some pics below.

I priced out some stuff on ECS and to replace the headlight, hood, bumper, grille, oil cooler, undertray, and side skirt (that's where the tread shot out) is about $4,000 before paint/labor/etc for OEM parts. With aftermarket parts it comes out to about $2,800 (cheating a little bit since I just bought one of those metal undertrays but didn't install it yet). Among the aftermarket parts includes a carbon fiber hood (SEIBON) and an upgraded oil cooler (CSF).

I saw a few pages back one guy was strongly recommending against the CSF radiator and power steering cooler, but didn't mention the oil cooler. And I saw some others saying they had no issues on E46 or other applications. Does anyone else have any experience with the CSF oil coolers?

Also does anybody have any input on carbon fiber hoods? I picked the SEIBON because it was the only one available on ECS, but I do like it. I'm not a big fan of the ones with the huge vents on them. I would maybe go with something with slightly larger vents than stock. Any help is appreciated!

Man that stinks!

Seibon is a decent manufacture of carbon stuff. Don't expect to much out of the weave or finish. But if painting it why not. The OEM hood is pretty light since it's aluminum.

The nice thing about the CSF radiator is it's all aluminum with not plastic end caps. I had it and had no problems.

The CSF oil cooler is taller than the OEM so you will block some of the radiator, but should cool the oil better thus helping keep the water cooler since it's not running as hot. If that makes sense.

Cool, yeah I would paint it anyway. Not a big fan of naked carbon fiber hood on white. And honestly I was only going with the carbon fiber hood just because it was a couple hundred cheaper and I figured a little bit lighter. I was already talking to Rob from Markert about picking up the cooler. Coincidentally he was my instructor for the weekend.

damn, thats a huge tire slap. i'd checkout the motorsport24 gt4 hood. its about $1700, not sure what shipping from germany costs, but it has some big vents without being overly aggressive, and gets rid of about 12lbs over oem.

i really hate re-treaded truck tires.

Sorry you have to go through this.

I have the M24 oil cooler. We did the same AIM data testing vs OEM with the same results: OEM > M24. So, if it were me, I'd stick with OEM as nothing else has proven to be any more effective (ESPECIALLY not CSF).

So what kind of temps were you seeing with the aftermarket oil cooler? Even with a fully functional OEM oil cooler, I was hitting the 3/4 mark on the temp gauge (about 260*F?) on hot track days.

Same. The OEM cooler was consistently 1-2 degrees cooler but still around 260.

Have you seen any tests on the do88 oil coolers? I have heard the DCT cooler works. Not sure about the other coolers they offer
