The F8X carbon fiber drive shaft has a special fragile layer that covers the wrap that's designed to purposefully crack if there's shipping damage.

Hopefully that's just superficial.

Rough idle like when at a stop light the car shakes? Or rough idle like the tpms bounce around? If it's shaking , maybe motor mounts are dead
Excellent prognosis my friend, shop just found out it was in fact the Vibra Technics mounts (that I just installed 3 weeks ago ...), fresh oem mounts now in. I have really bad luck with mounts.

Mounts were hand tightened by me, definitely not over tight and track was run CCW last weekend.

That sucks, I really thought these were the ticket. Have a brand new set sitting in a box, guess I might be returning them.

After my experience here I would definitely return them. They were excellent on the street but I think the heat and increased forces from the track did them in (just one track weekend mind you). I have read that they make a version of this mount for lighter weight cars and I am wondering if that is what I was sent by accident?

I know they make a track version too but I was told for a mixed use car I should go for the street version. Going to follow up on this but sucks for me either way as I installed these myself, then payed a lot of shop time to diagnose and ended up having to purchase new OE mounts and also pay to have them installed. Seemed like a pulley or belt issue, then seemed like it might be an internal engine issue, glad it ended up being simple but took some time to get to this point. Good shop too, just frustrating.

Anyone want to trade my Recaro side mount for MS mount? Sits a little too low for me and my wife. We are the same height lol

I've reached out to them to see how they'd like to handle this. I also provided many more photos and offered to send the mounts in for analysis. I'll report back on where this ends up.

i'll be installing my carbon driveshaft this weekend. picked up some fresh lock nuts from bmw and some flat-top jack stands for the job. i always enjoy saving money on a DIY project while acquiring more tools for less than the cost of install.

i'll also be doing my second DIY oil change on the car. switching to my first non-OEM oil. *gasp* same weight, though. *sigh* i'll be using 10w60 shell helix ultra racing oil. i'll also be dumping in a 300ml bottle of liqui moly m0s2 additive.
bought one of these fancy oil fillers, too. i hate the stress of dripping oil.
https://www.amazon.com/Assenmacher-S...bmw+oil+funnel

i'm planning on a spirited run up to the small mountain town of idyllwild this weekend to get some seat time with the new driveshaft.

Start of the track season!!! Managed a 1:51.38 at MSR Houston (clockwise). First time to track in 40 degree weather and my oil temp stayed in the 210 mark!

Thanks! I broke the lip last year. I hit a cone while drifting out of a corner.... right after I had the lip for a month.

I've had the BimmerWorld GroupN motor mounts in my E46 for a little over two years. I frequently inspect them, and they've held up fine. Mobbin, since you're in Houston, I could let you sit in my E46 sometime if you want to get a feel for the NVH.

I've always liked yellow/blue tinted headlights, just afraid it will get me pulled over. Fun for the track though.

Our car in blue (borrowed):
