I own the black M3 and I'm very pleased with Markert (as always) and the Harrop kit.

The usable power delivery is awesome on the street.

Came across this video. For them to use this kit as part of their race engine builds is telling in a positive way.

Trust me these kits have been belted around the track lap after lap in 110+ degree weather. It's a solid performer.

I have two of them now, call me crazy..

Although I'm going to part out the white car so someone lucky will get a mint kit at a lower cost.

Does that shop do their own tuning for the blower?

Be Tpr

I don't know if they mention anything in this video. I only watched it once and that was before I made my initial post. It was this video that confirmed the Harrop that I suspected in the first video I post. In this one I saw the Harrop intake manifold.

To your question maybe it will provide some insight.

What do you mean?

I know my F10 M5 feels neglected at the moment. It was demoted to street parking while the two Harrop SC E90 M3s sit cozy in the garage

I was very reluctant to buy the Harrop kit because of the very loud blower whine. I'm not too concerned about sound level at WOT but the Harrop was loud even when driving like a granny through the neighborhood.

What made a massive difference was blocking off the opening in the top of the air filter housing. This is the opening that on a stock car lets induction noise exit the hood. It sounds great on a stock car and overbearingly loud with the Harrop. The easy way to test if you like the modification is to open the hood and put a piece of packaging tap over that opening. Fire it up and drive around and see if you like it. For me, it was the difference between buying the kit or not. The company that installed installed my Harrop, Bimmerworld, made a piece that seals off that area. After one year with the Harrop, I've had no problems with it blocked off. I highly recommend it.

The driver side or the passenger side? This could be a game changer in my dreams of owning one someday.

I thought that had to remain open for proper airflow.

Ill try this today and see how it works for me. I have a custom airbox and flow comes mostly from the bottom so am not too worried it will impact intake.

Interesting indeed. I love the kit but hate the whine so if this method proves to quieten the noise whilst leaving reliability unaffected then my credit card should be worried!!

I stuffed a piece of rigid packing foam into the hole. It reduced the noise quite a bit (by maybe 15 decibels as best I can tell). No clear impact to performance at all in a short grocery run. I imagine with a blower forcing air in and an open airbox this wont mess up anything airflow wise. Thanks Bill!
