Weird Issue with Audio Bass

*Car has premium sounds

So the bass seems to be very weak whenever I have the radio playing. Even with the bass setting turned to the max, the bass just seems to be very minimal.

But when I have music playing from a CD or via Bluetooth, the bass hits very hard. I had the subwoofer replaced at BMW around Feb 2016 because it was not working at all. Even before having the subwoofer replaced, I was experiencing the same issue with the bass in the radio not being there vs it working with the cd or Bluetooth.

Has anyone else come across this issue or can shed some light as to what might be the problem?

Thanks.

Every car I've owned that had premium sound always had shitty bass using radio. Even XM doesn't do justice. When I play from the HDD or have music streaming from iphone it hits hard. Just how the cookie crumbles my friend.

Aren't radio frequencies rather basic in terms of their dynamic range?

Interesting. Never knew of this. Makes no sense at all.

This, but never heard HD Radio before. CD quailty (1411 kps) will fully take advantage of the range of the premium system.

Even with premium sound there's absolutely no bass. It drives me up the wall! I may try a Bavsound upgrade but I don't know how much better it will be. So far nothing (stock) can beat the bang and olufsen system I had in my '11 Audi s4

Ok so it's not just me.
Is it just a premium sound thing bc my buddy's e93 m3 radio bass output is fine. Not sure if he has premium sound though. I'll have to check.

It might be! FM radio, CD, Aux all sound pretty thin sounding to me. With that said I may just ask my gf to buy me the Bav Sound upgrade for xmas, might be a good test haha.

i have noticed this and i have a theory- radio stations have their music balanced differently to cut out some of the bass. this is so people with shitty radios can listen to music louder before it starts to distort.
