Interesting recent E90M review

Well worth reading folks. Reminds me why I can't seem to find a good replacement.

To me it's the goldilocks of cars. Not just from 2008-2013, but even now as it's price falls to the 30-40 range for slightly used cars. There really isn't anything like it today, and there probably never will be.

I've wanted one since 08. I still yearn for one and plan to get into one as soon as I finish medical school. I won't ever care if it's 5 years old or 20. To me it will always be that one car I just had to have. And it's actually attainable, in comparison to those cliche dreams of driving a Ferrari, which realistically, and rightfully so, remain dreams.

Great find on the article. The mpg figures are pure fantasy, however.

I know the feeling. Upgraded from a 330Ci as an intern, to an 08 E90 M3 as a second yr resident.

Makes residency that much better when you know you get to wake up and drive this beast twice a day no matter what happens in the hospital.

As usual Helmsman, great find!

From the last page:
“To sum up my view of my E90 M3, I normally look to change my cars every three years. But I’ve owned this one for over three years now, and have no desire at all to change it. I can see myself keeping it for a long time."

“Part of the reason for this will be down to the direction BMW’s M division has gone with turbocharged engines. In my view the latest M3 incarnation is not as good as the one I own.”

I'm happy to own my 08 6mt and my thoughts mirror the article. This car will be a permanent resident in my family!

Don't forget that the Brits measure fluids in Imperial gallons, which are a bit more than 20% more voluminous than US gallons, so multiply the mileage figures by 80%.

Ugh. In the potential gotchas they mention the M3 has 2 throttle bodies. My inner nerd closed the window in disgust and flipped his desk over.

But yeah, sentiment is spot on, especially RE the E90M in particular. There won't be another small V8 RWD manual 4-door sedan made, ever. You'll have to roll your own with a swap or something, or buy a used car.

Good point. Still 30 UK mpg is just shy of 25 US mpg which in my book still is close to impossible to reach...

I've hit 25+ mpg before on a road trip. Not impossible, just hard *lol*.
