E93 M3 Engine Malfunction Warning
I'm getting a "Engine malfunction. Engine operating at reduced output. Possible to continue. Drive with caution. Have the system checked by the nearest BMW center" message on the idrive display. I bought an Carly reader and after clearing the pre-existing codes, I get the following:
1. Engine / Motor index - 0027E4 check at lower top - 002B57 18. Motor Control ECU55 - sorry, unknown DTC fault - 00DE50 Central Control -sorry, unknown DRC fault - 00A2CD I was hoping for more clarity from Carly but I can't seem to find anything conclusive on these codes. When this started happening, there is a sound near the drivers side footwell area I think on the outside... sounds like an electric motor that is running (normal sounding hum like a fuel pump) that just doesn't stop. Any ideas on these faults and solution? |

I got the same "check at lower top - 002B57" along with misfires on all cylinders error message and car went to limp mode after I installed test pipes... restarted the engine and I haven't had the errors come up again... I think my issue was a slight leak in the exhaust system... I tried to find what this "check at lower top - 002B57" relates to and I think this particular message comes up when ever there is an issue with anything else that's critical...

Turns out the problem was a sensor on the brake booster's vacuum motor. I had noticed a new wirring noise on start up that came from around the driver's footwell area. Once the sensor was changed, everything cleared up again.
