Posted these q's in the vendor thread, and I'm signed up for pre-order because if enough people get in on it it's cheaper than buying a new factory shaft. Almost seems too good to be true.

Low volumes for low-production BMW's = higher costs of course"

Yeah QA1 stuff definitely doesn't look like dry carbon, but it seems they're mainly selling the safety and driveline life benefits of carbon. I don't think they're as bothered about a few pounds in the driveline for their market

BTW, I'm not saying SFI is the gold standard for safety/testing; I'm just curious what the test methodology is relative to a published spec. SFI is permanently on my naughty list because of head and neck restraint shenanigans.

I don't see any difference between this shaft and the one I had from Fall-Line Motorsport, which is also a one piece DS.

Whether you believe it or not, Solid rear diff mounts plus a one piece DS will add quite a bit of NVH.

I've taken off my Fall-Line CF DS, and sure the car doesn't react instantly, but it's way easier to live with on the highway.

Didn't you mention in your build thread that your fall line driveshaft does not maintain the use of the OEM guibo? I believe this one does. Either way, at pre-order pricing, these are almost half the price before shipping, and the fall line DS seems to be presently discontinued.

I plan on running this DS with solid subframe and solid diff bushings, so I'll be sure to provide you some feedback after install as far as level of NVH goes.

I see at least one photo of the fall line shaft with guibo still in place which is contrary to what I thought it did. I was convinced it was a solid mount setup.

Yeah, same. I'm in the same boat as you; prior to today I was under the impression that the fall line did not have a guibbo. After Ashtaron's recent post, I went to double check pictures and it does appear the fall line would mount up to the guibo, but I've specifically seen posts saying that it doesn't utilize it... odd!

As outlined in the review on the 1st post, there is low/minimal amounts of vibration, even when the driver consistently drove over 100mph and onwards, upto 140mph

I think I misunderstood of the term "guibo" when I used it. The Fall-Line shaft is one piece and is completely bolt on, unlike the DSS one that proved to require additional steps to be installed. But if you already have solid subframe mounts you will still have to drop the rear subframe because the stock piece allows for some wiggle room while the one piece does not.

The Fall-line shaft DOES NOT shake or vibrate or feels unbalanced in any way, because if it is, I'm sure my teeth would feel it. My gripe was that the stock piece, as well as the CFRP one on the F8x are 2 piece, and that they are 2 piece so that the middle joint acts as to dampen the NVH with a one-piece shaft.

I have no doubt that DSS as well as Fall-Line and M-Factory knows what they are doing, and I'm just stating that no matter how well it's made or how perfectly it's balanced. On my car, under load, above 120km/hr, the CF shaft will emit a hollow type winding up sound that increases as speed rises. It won't be as loud when you're cruising, but for long period of times on the highway, it's similar to an exhaust drone in my POV. Reviews are based on a reviewer's POV, and sounds/noise/NVH is a subjective matter.

Sunny, thanks for clearing that up! Luckily, I need to drop the subframe anyway to install the subframe and diff mounts, so I'll be doing everything at the same time. May yet go with Powerflex purple poly mounts for the diff, hoping to find some reviews by testers that have the YCW DS paired up with solid diff mounts before I make my final decision.

TMS Solid Rear Aluminum Subframe Mounts
Powerflex Purple Diff Bushings
Spoon Rigid Collar kit
Fall-Line CF Driveshaft
New OEM Diff Bushings
Stock Driveshaft

The CF DS with the Poly diff bushings means very little wiggle room = unbearable NVH for me. I suggest you keep the stock diff bushings and just get solid rear subframe bushings (zero NVH increase)

Sunny, thanks! I'll keep my stock diff bushing just incase. Hopefully the increase in NVH will be negligible, but if not I can always swap them back in.
