What are rod bearings made of
Hello everyone. I'm sure this has been said on some other thread before. But I would like to know what my rod bearings are made of. I have a 2010 m3. Thanks

Sugar and spice and all things nice...
![]() Old ones lead / copper... New ones don't have the copper layer so you can't see the wear as easily. |

http://wiki.rcollins.org/core/index.php/Engine_Specs_-_S65_Rod_Bearings#Production_and_Composition 2010,5-2013 has tin aluminum bearings. http://wiki.rcollins.org/core/index.php/Engine_Specs_-_S65_Rod_Bearings#Production_and_Composition_2 Nobody is really sure of the cut off dates for the switch because some older 2010s had the new bearings while other of the same approximate build date had the old bearings. |
