It would be interesting if so, as I don't recall of any main bearing failures on non-s/c'ed cars....of course I could be wrong. If the OP is the 2nd owner of the car, it might've been s/c'ed prior to being traded-in.

It is definitely possible that subsequent owners could not be aware that the engine had been previously supercharged. I would imagine it would be very tempting for a seller to return a car to stock and not disclose the modifications.

I was pondering that too.

The very first owner was a very elderly man, I saw the picture of him and his wife in the glove compartment with the sticker/manual, I HIGHLY doubt they would SC haha.... the car had 21k miles on it as a 2012 and I bought it maybe 6 months ago... RIP

What did you end up doing? new engine? used? remanned? how much did it run you?

This gets more and more interesting. In for the final diagnosis.

Like all the others, I'm saddened to hear of your misfortune. I too want to hear what's the final diagnosis and am glad that you're sharing this so that we can learn more about these wonderful cars, their benefits and drawbacks. Good luck.

Are you saying that SC'ing the car can cause main bearings failure?

I'm not saying anything, but it has been put forth by others in many threads that the cars that have suffered main bearing failures have been s/c'ed at some point.

I am not trying to point fingers but I have been thinking to sc my car but after reading all these posts and threads, I am kind of changing my mind. I can't afford buying or fixing a used s65 engine

Although there are many more cars without problems, it is worthy of concern.

I have an ESS 650 kit that I will be putting on shortly. I personally feel that given the number of cars that haven't had a problem.....it's worth the risk. That's just me, though. There are always inherent risks when f/i is introduced to an engine not necessarily designed for f/i. YMMV.

In general, adding 50% power to a motor comes with risk. I think several thousand supercharger kits have been sold, and there are maybe 5 main bearing failures attributed to the supercharger.

It makes sense to me the load would be increased on the front main bearing. I made a post asking how one would rebuild an S65 to address this issue for a supercharger, but none of the experts responded.

Personal I would not go for it , think that G-Power in Germany are no fools when they say our SC cars need to replace the bearings every 10K km .
Think they know also the reason why...

Dean kinda answered the question....although it sounds like an expensive solution.

While I am a huge fan of blowers I have not installed one on mine just because I don't want to gamble. If I were to install one, I would also install VAC's coated main bearings if I could get the clearances right. If someone would engineer some type of girdle to support the crankshaft in supercharged S65's, I believe we'd see fewer of these main failures.

Indeed , I saw that as well but in personal Emails they do , because last year I was interested to buy and to visit them in Germany because I live in Belgium .
So I posted some links for them from on here with pics from the whole bearing shit and blown S65s and of course they know the problem as well and then finally fell the word 10K km !
If they would put it on their site...Would you still buy their SC ?
