Yes. It is illegal to attempt to dictate the flow of traffic such as by waving on other people. Additionally, imagine if this line of cars behind the dash cam car were people in line waiting for something.. would it be polite to everyone behind him to let other people cut in front of him? Let the traffic system do its job. This is what agitated the BMW driver. So while the BMW driver did something stupid, dash cam driver instigated it by doing something wrong himself. Both culpable IMO.

I agree 100% with this. Nothing grinds my gears like a person in front of me stopping in moving traffic to let a car come in. Not only are you forcing me and everyone behind me to brake suddenly, but also you literally have no bearing for doing so....it's like just your "nice guy" act of the day. Fuck off lol.

Definitely looks like the camera car sped up a bit to keep the BMW from overtaking him, seems like both drivers were a bit raged out and the BMW driver was way too confident.

Also the school bus, camera car, and BMW were all trying to avoid the red light, all rushing and no thinking.

What are you talking about? He maintained a constant distance following the bus.

There were honking, yelling at the stop sign. So the BMW driver was agitated already, then made a bonehead move trying to beat the red light. After stepping out the car, he probably was mad at himself, knowing full well he couldn't blame anyone else. Hope he learned his lesson.

Watch the clip again, you can clearly see he sped up and moved to the right a bit to cut him off.

I'm not excusing the BMW driver since it was completely his decision and action that led to him wrecking his own car. But still the dashcam driver was being a bit of a dick head too.

You can hear the driver saying he thought it was two lanes.

But clearly he wanted to beat the light. The guy with the dashcam pissed the BMW driver off because he was waiting to the let the school bus in. He lost his patience and wanted to swoop around the dashcam driver to teach him a lesson, right as the light was turning red. But the BMW driver does not have mad driving skillz so he crashed.
