the mount came in today, i really like it. very sturdy, and it has a cotter pin on the end of the mounting bolt. i can see why this is good for flying.

It's actually not that bad when you consider you get more track time than a whole weekend with SpeedVentures:

$195 to register
$100 for garage
$100 for hotel

That's more expensive than $350.

Garage is $20. And it's local so no hotel.

It's 7 hours of time but your car will not last anywhere close to that.

$450 is a steep considering our cars can't even keep up with a full Josh day. Plus you have to factor in the extra fuel at $10/gallon (about $160 on a typical Josh day so figure another $100 there) and the fact that that track chews the sh$! out of tires (so an extra $300 in tire wear).

are you and gabe coming to autoclub on 09/09?
i was planning on just going to the chevron down the street, but i know you guys run higher octane stuff...

i know its a bit steep, but i'm a bit excited on going in a completely open (no run group) format. i think its going to be good for me to slow it down a bit and focus on the line and gradually build on that instead of trying to rush into the groove for a 20 minute session. i'll take it easy in the traffic and get on it when there isn't. i think it is going to be a very rewarding day.

I'll be out of town and I don't think he's planning on going. I really hate running when it's over 85. I end up with one fast morning session and then tires and engine heat frustrate me the rest of the day so I end up pushing harder than I should trying to chase that high. I'm clearly not as patient as you!

Don't totally count me out!

It'll depend on the weather for me. If it stays hovering around 100ºF, I'll probably hold out until better weather arrives.

I do like the concept idea of an HPDU-type of event---open track and low car count. (Fast Toys also offers a similar format with similar pricing.) I'm willing to pay higher prices to achieve that. But it does need to be "worth it", which for me means cool weather. I can't run my car hard for long periods of time when it's over 90ºF, so open track is a moot point if I can only run fast for 10 minutes. And Auto Club, in particular, is brutal on tires if you have aero because at 150mph, the wing is creating MASSIVE amounts of downforce and the banked track just grinds those passenger-side tire edges. I ruined some good tires pretty quick there…..
