Good luck to all
FYI, for cars on the priority list the diffs are due for delivery to the TO warehouse today and will be going out to dealers later today or early Monday.

For those in the UK, i've been advised that diffs will be arriving with dealers at the end of next week with replacements being completed as a priority.

My M4 has been at the VPC (Newark) since 7/31 , a work order has been opened but BMW NA nor Genius can tell me if the work order is open for the prep work done to the car before they ship the car to the dealer or the rear diff is being replace . They have a carrier listed to deliver the car to dealership but no date for the delivery has been issued .

Mine has been there since 7/18. They won't ship your car until the diff is replaced.

I hope you are right. It would be nice to get my nice new YMB M3 back. My first ever new BMW and I can't play with it

Cool

Hi all,

I took delivery of my M2 last week and the dealer told me there was no issues with the diff. at the time. I called service today and sure enough, I'm on the list. They have ordered a replacement but it will take a couple of weeks for it to arrive.

Are we all sure that these cars can be driven without problems or causing any harm until the diff is replaced? I just want to make sure it's OK to drive....

Thanks for the insight.

Personally, I'd take that down (or crop out the top half at least).

Lots of sensitive info in there.

I live in Houston. Found a nicely equipped Sakhir Orange ZCP, 6spd, etc in Georgia via web search. Negotiated the deal, signed contract docs via FedEx, sent in my down pmt, arranged for a transporter to pick up my car last Saturday, sold my old car, then jumped on a plane for vacation. When I landed at my destination I had a voicemail from my CA. Called him back and he said "everything was going well, but we discovered that your car is on delivery hold and we can't send it to you until it's repaired."

That was a week ago today. I've pinged my CA daily and have put in several calls to two different BMW NA numbers. Told my CA that we have a very practical problem since I sold my old car based on what should have been a done deal - my only risk should have been limited to the truck getting the car to me. He said he'd cover a rental car via reimbursement to keep me whole. Except that it really won't keep me whole if this goes on too long because I'll be making payments on a car that I've never had the pleasure of even touching.

Questions:

(1) Lots of ED and special order (VPC) commentary here. Anyone have insight into the fate of those who bought dealer inventory cars? Again, this didn't come to light until AFTER everything was signed.

(2) What do you guys think? Should I wait this out or cancel the contract (assuming I can since they haven't delivered the car or even provided an ETA at this point) and just find another one? I'm in a friggin rental car at this point!

Appreciate any insights.

Those estimated dates don't mean anything. A coworker of mine has an M2 that is supposed to be at the dealer tomorrow according to the estimated date. I have an M3 that they are estimating to be at my dealer by 8/12. Both cars are at the Brunswick port right now. The lady who works at the BMW office at the port told me today that they have not received any differentials since all this started. They are not being told when they will come in but they are hoping they will have some next week. She said they have a couple of hundred cars lined up waiting for the differentials. You can go ahead and throw those estimated completion dates out the window.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe since your car is marked as sold you have top priority for repair. Now that doesn't mean it's getting fixed anytime soon, my guess would be 3-4 weeks before it is repaired.

My car was offloaded at Port Hueneme today as well. Was it a BMW "Genius" or your salesmen that told you about repair work starting Monday?

I find it highly unlikely you'd be first in line for a fix when there are cars that have been waiting for nearly a month already.

I hope for your sake I'm wrong though.

if genius said that, i'd highly doubt it. there are so man stories circulating about the quantity of diffs available, or produced,.. who the hell knows.

not trying to be a negative nancy..but i find it hard to believe diffs got to cali already, and not east coast first.

heard from my service manager today that his car(m6) and my car(m3) won't be available until october. not sure what to make of this but if thats the case i am gonna be even more upset. my expected delivery date was 7/22 and on 7/22 upon arriving at the dealer i was made aware of the delivery stop. as an employee at the dealer i really wish there was more being done to assist us. i sold my car 2 weeks ago expecting to get my car(it has been at the port since 7/18), and the dates keep getting pushed back further and further. made a call to BMW NA today and was told they have no update for my specific vehicle and she personally wasn't aware of the timeline for when i can pick my car up. looking in the dealers system my updated delivery date was 8/18 but they told me that it is not accurate. vehicle is marked sold as priority 1 so i hope the parts arrive prior to october. hope we all receive our cars before october
