Center console changes - what is difference between pre-LCI and LCI version?
Hi. I have a 2008 and am looking to replace my center console (some minor scratch damage).
I have basic Black Novillo interior w/ Carbon Leather trim......so non-Extended leather. From what I can tell, the current console is the black plastic but with a thin Sensatec like leather that is glued on top of the plastic shell. Based on RealOEM, my p/n should be 51167130686. I've noticed in the LCI models that the P/N has changed to 51169153212, but with no backward compatibility to the pre-LCI M3s. So question is what exactly changed in the LCI E90 center consoles?....is this a superficial p/n change?...or some geometric change?.....or change in material, quality of plastic....as I've read somewhere that later E9x M3s had some material finish changes by BMW to skimp on costs (not verified though). |

Simple. Inside the cubby/console next to the USB port they changed from a little cupholder with an air vent to a felt covered bin. I think this happened in 2008.
