yea, that was one of my slowest sessions of the day. oddly, the second session when i gridded wrong and had to battle past about eight cars produced my fastest lap at 1.57.179. i think most of the time i'm leaving out there is in the corners- especially the last corner before the roval. i couldn't seem to get that one right and kept going too wide.

Protection is important guys. I'm glad I ponied up the money to buy this firesuit, it saved my life today at Sonoma.

Best money I've ever spent imo. He tried to sting me, but it didn't go through the suit. When the session was over, he was stuck to my pants leg like a champion. I plucked him off safely :O

has anyone tracked with hooked on driving recently? i'm looking at laguna seca dates. HOD now requires some sort of $50 membership fee for the year. are they about the same as speedsf? i wouldn't want to pay a premium unless i'm getting more seat time.

I started with HOD. They are pretty strict and from what I recall you get 4 sessions. They charge a premium because of all the instructors, classroom instruction for noobs, and structured environment.

SpeedSF is the only org up here that does more outside of some newcomers (OnGrid).

I've ran with HoD. They're legit.

i was trying to read and find on their website what makes them think they can charge a $50/year 'membership' fee. looks like they are offering the same shit as everyone else.

i'm looking at laguna seca on 08/04 with speedsf, but rates at all the lodging places seem a bit leveraged up. couldn't find if there is anything going on... maybe just summer? i kinda want to make a mini vacation out of it again.

Sonoma is the craziest wildlife track I have ever been to. They closed the track once because a deer was running around on track.

And the craziest image I've ever captured from my front bumper GoPro was at Sonoma. Check this out: How long do you think he made it, looking all coiled up and badass and ready for action right in the middle of an active racetrack? Answer: next lap he was---uhhh---looking a little flatter……It wasn't me that hit it. I think I must have gone right over him. But, he wasn't so lucky with the next cars….

I'm back from COTA. Hot and humid. Think 99 deg F and 50+% humidity. It was brutal on me.

However, it was a fun track, reminded me of the A1-ring (now Red Bull Ring) in Austria with the stare straight up into the heavens hill at the end of the front straight.

Took me a while to get a handle on it. Spent all day Friday trying to figure it out it seemed. Never felt I got the esses right until Saturday, then got 7-8-9 well. 16-17-18 were just miserable for me as I couldn't get the grip down like my students seemed to be able to. Don't know why, I just couldn't get the car to feel good there. 19 was a blast. Really catches people out how fast that turn is. 11, 12, 13, and 20 sucked for me. No rotation so I had to park it until the front decided to grip, then rotate with the throttle (which made the following corners fun w/overheated rear tires). First world problems for sure, but frustrating.

Best compliment I got was from a guy who had done the school a few times and rode with me on Sunday mornings' wettish session. His next session out he dropped 5 seconds off his lap time (he had an AIM Solo in the car). Not bad since it was my 8th session ever on COTA.

The photographer had some neat stuff too. Wish I had room on a wall for one of those aluminum prints. They looked super cool. Anyone have one?

Sounds amazing. Wish I could have been out there this year, but I pretty much blew right through any sort of budget
