So, I forwarded this thread to the owners of the NCRC organization so they could get some unfiltered/censored feedback from this community.

I said almost as bad, nobody is as bad as Extreme Disaster Track Events. They are the Walmart of track days. Nickel and dime you for everything and constantly pushing their track packs. The crowd that they attract are garbage drivers. Don't keep their cars maintained and don't drive very well. So in each session you have a minimum of 10+ offs/break downs on track and need to worry about people hitting you or oil on track or something annoying. Then spend hours cleaning up the track because of said idiot. Just ridiculous. They probably have the worst organized track days in the nation I would assume.


dogbone, its funny I was thinking the same thing when signing up for NCRC. Man this seems pretty serious, they want to know your whole driving background. But that was a joke compared to what I saw out there. I would say like 80% of the drivers in that session sign up for advanced with another organization they would be moved to a beginner class immediately.

As far as PCA, I never actually ran on track with them but I did attend one of their events as a spectator. The morning meeting lasted so long that it went through the drivers 1st sessions. That was mind boggling to me and made that decision easy.

Well thats easy to say now after that fact, but why not address it when you have 5 people in front of you complaining about the same guy. Instead they decided to stay stubborn, follow their own mindset, insult us and say its our own fault, and do nothing about it. Well easy enough, I can just take my money elsewhere then. I doubt they care and neither do I, but I will make sure everyone knows my experience so they don't get screwed like me either.

The good thing about Cali is that its saturated with track events so I can pick and choose who to run with. I wouldn't run with NCRC again unless I go out there with a Prius in advanced group just to prove my point.


Another funny story about NCRC was the only other time I ran with them. Was at Buttonwillow and in the morning meeting the organizer starts off by saying we are running 13CCW when everyone had signed up for 13CW. So he insists that EVERYONE is wrong and we are welcome to have a refund and head home if we don't like it. After EVERYONE arguing with him for a bit he decides to take a vote where EVERYONE says they want to run 13CW. He's still not convinced and is saying 13CCW. Finally someone takes out their phone and shows him the email confirmation and schedule and everything showing 13CW and he caves in. Like cmon, you are the organizer and don't even know what we are doing that day. Then we all have to convince you to correct it. Just reiterates their stubbornness which I doubt will every change. Like I said, easy enough to go elsewhere.

I think I'm gonna sign up for a PCA event. Their strictness and emphasis on safety is welcoming.

Track Night in America is an event you want to avoid if you don't want to deal with dumbasses who shouldn't be running in advanced groups and cars breaking down. The event is laid back and seems fairly safe, and most drivers who put themselves in in intermediate/advanced are disciplined. But some dumbass nearly rear ended my friend on the WARM UP lap, went off track, and drove to the edge of the track as I was passing. I thought she was going to drive back on track and cut me off.

Do it. Let the butthurt flow through the drivers of faster cars as they get passed by a faster driver in a Prius.

NCRC is probably the second least expensive organizer out there, so it comes as no surprise that you had a questionable experience. I dunno, maybe try running with other, more expensive organizations? I know that Speed Ventures is popular. Aaron Bitterman is pretty good at running a tight ship.

Ya I love Speed Ventures. Haven't had any issues with them. I actually help run the Bimmer Challenge series through them. Speed District is also amazing. Those are my 2 go to organizations. The other ones are only if I'm really desperate to get out there.

Would you rate one over the other? I'm a complete noob and have only done one track day with Speed District but I loved the experience and their format. Am thinking about doing Speed Ventures at Sonoma next.

In order of organization (how organized they are) my experience has been:

BMW CCA
NASA/SCCA
SV/HoD
NCRC/XS
NorCal Shelby Club (in their defence they only run two (2) events a year all ran by volunteers and not people looking to make a buck)

They are definitely ran differently. With Speed District you are probably out on track more then any other organization by probably twice as much. Little downtime between sessions. The drawbacks are higher entry fee and generally limited to Willow Springs and Buttonwillow. SD schedule is also difficult to make sometimes as they might be on a Friday. With Speed Ventures you get more track selection at a cheaper price. You might want to buy double sessions (ends up being roughly same price as SD at that point) since one run group is generally 4-5 sessions for the day with 2 hour gaps between. But if your running double that gap is less and more track time. I would say both are really good and wouldn't hesitate to go out with either.
