Interesting. You're saying OEM F80/F82 mufflers on a E92?

Yes, I found mufflers for cheap and my friend owns a muffler shop so we're going to fabricate it to fit

Oh this is gonna be good! Zero sarcasm. The sound comparison between the cars (E90m3 vs. M4) with the same exhaust is gonna be epic.

I hope so I'm just wondering how to get the valvetronic system to work, I was considering connecting it to the power button to open the valves but I don't know if I should do that or have a separate switch? Any suggestions

Would be pretty fitting to wire it to the power button.

Please do this swap-!

The muffler is tuned to work with a given exhaust tubing length/diameter, configuration (bends, crossovers, etc), cats, headers, and so on. It's an exhaust system and just slapping that other muffler on there is not going to produce a very smooth sound, if I had to guess.

But hey, your money and your car.

Somewhat true. Different exhausts use the same muffler... Not necessarily BMW, but just in general.

OP: how much was the f80/f82 OEM muffler?

Yes, but that's because aftermarket companies may not have the time/resources/demand to engineer a unique muffler for each application. It's also why some aftermarket exhausts sound like shit.

Just my two cents, as exhaust sound is highly subjective. Would just hate for OP to spend the time and money to get this installed and end up hating it.

I dont see any advantage going to an f8x muffler but I am extremely curious for the outcome.

To be frank, the car is tuned for the TT I6 not the high revving V8 that the S65 is. Its tuned for the harmonics of the S55 not the S65. Who knows, maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised.
