LOOKED LIKE? What is is supposed to look like at a certain mileage? Have you pulled samples from the field at an exact mileage to compare? Or at least since you're "brain" throws away any objective measurements, and only processes subjective reasoning, the least you can do is admit that the cosmetic appearance of parts have nothing to do with their lifespan. Or did your subjective brain shut down when we were shown blown engines with brand new coated bearings?

It isn't unreasonable to believe that not everyone's bearings is the same. For the mileage and abuse you put your car through killerfish, i wouldnt be surprised if your bearings came looking better than squartus' 30k mile bearings.

I don't see why you're fighting the luxury of choice. Nobody is forcing you to believe that your bearings could be bad. Some of us are just grateful that there are options available to us.

Yes when something that is not suppose to be a wear item is worn down though its copper layers that quickly... it does not take much brain power to go hey... this is not going to end well. Or the experenced mechanics that did the job who were floored by how bad they were, or the BMW race shop I had install my headers. Showed them the bearings as I wanted to know what experts in the field thought. After seeing many many spun bearings they were not supprised at how bad they were and agreed I would of been lucky to make 70k. People who do this for a living seem to have a much better handle on whats what than forum trolls.
Will every engine spin a bearing, no but it does happen enouf to be an issue. In another 70k or so ill rebuild the engine and actually fix the problem the new bearings are putting a band aid on.

Not necessarily. You have to read and decide for yourself. I changed mine at 60k when I was out of warranty. However, the odds are with you that yours are fine. It would just totally suck if you were one of the minority that suffered a failure and had to pay for it.

2008 M3 coupe (mfd 9/2007). 44,000K miles. Original bearings. Castrol 10W-60

First Blackstone showed a 19 lead, but no other wear metals of concern. Will do another report at next oil change.

*update - lead dropped to 9 this last report....and I actually drove the car more, and much harder.
