Used throttle actuator from 2008 E90 M3. Circuit board is bad but gears have been replaced with upgraded ones from Ian (alpina527) from M3cutters.co.uk. I thought it was just the gears that were gone on this throttle actuator so bought these new gears and installed them, but it turned out to be the circuit board, so had to buy a whole new throttle actuator. TA had about 60k km on it and the gears have about 500 km on them. Buyer can just swap out the half of their TA with the new gears from this one (i.e. don't have to deal with installing gears, just have to unscrew the 6 bolts holding TA together and swap out the side holding the gears with this one).

Paid $450 with exchange and shipping from UK. Asking $300. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just to clarify is this for 1 or 2?
If only 1, do you have the second set of gears?

I only have the one. I ordered two sets of gears and installed both. Unfortunately, it was the board that was gone in this TA, so I took the whole thing out and ordered a new TA and installed it, leaving one good set of gears that could be swapped into a TA with a good board.

How did you find out the board was bad? I am in a position where I believe I have a TA going bad but don't want to spend the $400 just to find out it's the board and not the gears.

I did what I should have done before I ordered two sets of gears: the TA comes apart in two pieces, one half with the circuit board and the other half with the gears. I swapped the circuit board half from one side to the other, and the error followed the board rather than the gears.

Only one side was throwing a code, but I ordered two sets of gears as preventative maintenance for both TAs. The new gears are still in the TA with the old board that works, and I have a whole new TA in the other bank.
