I'm definitely keen on seeing what the bearings look like. Maybe we can all chip in and pay for his bearing replacement. I have $50 on it.

So who is starting the pull the bearings gofundme page? The new owner probably has no idea about the new "family" he has married into with this purchase. |

Mike, do you think a shop in the area would donate (or heavily discount) the labor cost if we covered the parts?

BE Bearings has agreed to contribute a set of bearings for this M3 & for the community to gather data
BE Bearings would like Auto Talent to perform the work. Will work out the details on Monday about the cost for labor (if there is any). Last edited by Green-Eggs; 10-25-2015 at 07:21 PM.. |

She's a woman, so she never ever pushed the car past 4K rpms? Kindda sexist, don't you think? The last time I was at the track there was a woman in the intermediate group.

My advise to the owner is to ignore all these requests to see the rod bearings. The car runs fine, leave it like that. If you're scared and want to change your bearings, feel free.

I also thought this was funny. It'd be interesting to see the results but not quite sure I'd care to pay for the man's bearing replacement. Paying to see the results from this car isn't going to help me know the current state and condition of my own rod bearings...

We were probably about 15 in the group that day, but minus the guy who blew his brand new C7 Z06 motor, so that's 13 guys and one gal. She was driving a modded subaru brz, and no, it didn't blow the motor.
