Blown Motor @ the track

That blows. I like Corvettes- my father has a 2009 Z51/stick with LS7 manifolds/cats and x pipe and a tune. The car is a fucking rocket. That LS3 is a marvel, and the chassis is really something else. (The brakes and seats rather suck, but thats shit you can easily change).

The new Vettes really have some issues. The LT1 with its rod bearing issue, not to mention forthcoming head problems with cyl deactivation and DI, but the new Z06 seems to not have been finished before hitting the market. It was a mistake to make that thing with a blower anyways- a z06 is supposed to be NA and light weight in my mind, save the insane 650 blown hp for Zr1. They could've easily made a 525-550 hp NA motor.

doubt it. NA and hand built so they are paying attention to part variation and clearances

Yeah, one engine (2010) failed in a big way on track. The 2008 decided to go more quietly in the paddock after a rattling "warm-up lap" in the third session.

Think they're both going to the same shop to get checked out.

You want to show that C7 or other high performance cars are even worse than our S65's .
Think we/I know better ... Because people stating about at least 3- S65's just blew only this week , so be carefull before you think ours are better because I had also PM about one S65 that blew yesterday and he is in this thread too !
Anyway...It feels good to see that your's with high mileage rolls out the new crappy stuff on the track , and really hope we can keep it this way .

Saw pictures of the other one from last Saturday. Threw rod 1 and destroyed block. Not sure yet if head damage also. He has line on several rebuilts long and short block.

Killlerfish, I'm actually with you on I put 100k in my e92 driving it hard. BUT man if you do end up with a bearing fsil, you will feel like an idiot lol. Stop tempting your fate.

I truly believe the failures are on engines destined to fsil due to low clearance from factory. I don't think it's a mileage dependant prob necessarily

You know the thing is that I'm actually more afraid to change the bearings than leave it alone. I'm not too crazy about the in frame bearing change idea. Look what happened one month after a rod bearing replacement on a 65K mile car, that had no prior issues (Main bearings went):

every car maker is trying to generate more powerful engines, while meeting new government requirements.

once everything goes electric hybrid its going to be more problems. you guys really think this push for more efficiency while adding more power is going to make engines more reliable ? hell no

I think the E92 M3 was one of the best cars i will ever own. but its simply 2007 performance, and it got boring.

i would rather be driving a Z06 or Z51 corvette that might blow up with track abuse. because they are simply more fun, and faster, better looking, better handling etc... and if something breaks, guess what ? warranty.

killerfish you can talk about your days of "chasing" corvettes around that blow up at track, and make that your excuse for now not to buy one. But sooner or later you will have to upgrade that outdated car you drive. I wont expect you to get a corvette, but what ever you get. I am willing to bet you are going to have a problem with it. Because the old days of making engines just for power are well over.

I've already decided on my next car. I find your post very ironic because that day, I had to park my car after each session next to it, and it made me feel like i was driving an antique. Tesla P85D. The guy was plugged in right next to me. I have a picture of it, and I'll put it up later.
