67k rod bearings replaced!

Getting my SC installed right now, and i decided it was best to get the rod bearings replaced. Shop told me that the top rod bearings were donezo and as you get closer to cyl #8 it gets worse. 67k miles on the car!

I know right! I might go but just to spectate i would go to support my local shop/old employer EVOMS. It all depends on my work schedule :/

Woah, Gila Bend? I never thought I would hear about that shitsplat town again. I used to work on the AF base out there as a contractor before i joined the AF. Theyre having a car event? Is it on the AF base or at the airport?

OmegaMotorsports rented their runway. They have held an event there before. The runway was newly paved. But in early October I bet it will still be in the 90's F.

Did you do an oil analysis prior to the bearing replacement? Curious if the analysis completely missed the bearing wear.

I got the car with 60k, so i didn't even bother because i knew i was going to do the rod bearings eventually

Im at 64 K miles right now

my car will not be driven in winter so I HOPE I can do two more months and then do the bearings exhaust and some interior Mods while the car is parked over the winter months.......

That's funny, I got my car at 60k too back in April and I knew as soon as I saw the way the sales guy drove it when ice cold that I'd be doing the bearings. With less than 1200 miles on the oil the first blackstone already showed high lead, copper and iron.

Perhaps I don't know how to read omens from M3 entrails, but these don't look as bad to me as the dozens of others I've seen where you can actually see the bare copper. Am I missing something?

Pictures don't do justice, this is NOT normal. A big chunk was missing from one of the bearings. Shop told me they've seen worse, but this still isn't good.

You are just as bad but on the other end of the spectrum.

Keep in mind, the photos you are comparing the bearings to are of bearings that have been run in an engine for its effective life, which is usually 200,000 to 300,000 miles or more, not 67,000 miles. Any bearings that look like these with low mileage is not normal, don't kid yourself.

In other words the bearings in OP pics don't need any diagnosis because they were almost shot and OP pics are prove of it !

To hear that ticking noises are just normal for S65's...just like any BMW/Dealer is saying knowing that most BMW/Dealers just s@ck and let you wait that long till you get a black hole and of course the bill is for the owner, sometimes even under warranty because the car has an aftermarket exhaust , BS that's only because they try to run !
BS...Because even BMW/Germany knows what's wrong for the last 12 years because they replace continious S65's + S85's Worldwide !
For BMW it's all about financial speculation that's all that matters and for you nothing is wrong ...
Note : Nothing against you bro , for me it's only about BMW because they left us in the dust and more will come .
