Cooler S65 thermostat?

I've been doing some searching and the only thermostat option I can find is from M24 in Germany. I'm going to call for specifics on Monday. Does anyone know of any other thermostat options out there?

Definitely worth checking to see what else is in the bmw parts bin. For other e90 or v8.

I just found out from IND that the thermostat housing offered by Motorsports24 deletes the thermostat completely and works in conjunction with their electric water pumps. Not really ideal for a street driven car.

I was just on the M24 website and there's a thermostat part number they offer. Unknown if it's the same part IND offers.

I'm so used to American V8's where the thermostats can be changed out in an hour and you can find them everywhere lol.

A cooler thermostat is not necessarily a good thing on a modern car. All of the ECU programming is designed to work with the oem operating temperature. Any particular reason you want the engine to run cooler?

The temps are consistent when driving it like a normal human. It's when I get on it that I see the temps spike. I thought maybe a thermostat that opens up a little earlier could keep the spikes in temperature to a minimum without have to resort to major mods (radiator and coolers). It's a popular mod on the Chevy LS engines and they ran great with it.

Fair enough, I see your reasoning, but keep in mind that with the tight clearance on the mains and rods in the S65, you need the oil to be at operating temp, especially when using the OEM grade of 10W60.
