Yes that sounds perfect , Let us know what Indy thinks about it ...

Sure bro why not...

1-Enter keyfob.
2-Push/tap on brake pedal about 10 times in a timespan of about 30/45 seconds .
3-Push start button .
4-No clunk noise .

I know this sounds like big BS , but you can believe me for 100%.
I had several PM's about this in the last 2 years and it seems it works only with DCT cars and NOT with 6MT .
BTW....This works not alone for me , but for others with DCT too .
Hope this helps..

Again like I said above...."Why" is the big question ?

Agree with Killerfish2012 , sounds like a timing chain tensioner, maybe bleeding down oil while it's off.

In the thread of anom's clunk noise on here I saw he had replaced his timing chain tensioner too ...And it was NO fix .
And the only time that I saw the only real fix for the clunk noise was the Vanos-Gears => see pic below .

This was a "PUMA" case and he never heard the clunk noise again !
Hope this helps others too , and of course we know replacing Vanos-Gears are not cheap .

The click/clunk is normal, but the longer rattle isn't. I don't think these two people have the same issue.

He had both the longer rattle + the clunk .
So only at cold start he had first the rattle noise followed by the clunk noise .

I had the clunk too and that was after the car has been sitting in the garage without being driven for a while. Since it has become my DD I haven't heard it. When I took it in to the dealership I was told it is normal operation given the age of the car. I don't it it's damaging anything.

Thanks for the PDF. Confused though as they list both part 7 and 8 as a tensioner even though they are totally different parts. I assume they are all part of a tensioner? Has anyone diy'd this before? Seems like its something I could do myself pretty cheaply....

If I remember, anom3 had a similar rattle, but not identical. When I was experiencing this a couple months ago there would be no abnormal noise for a second or two, then right before the clunk I would get 3-7 quick rattles....which was identical to anom3, who solved his problem by coding in a delay for something or another, can't remember. But because his was fixed with a simple code change I blew it off as nothing. Fast forward to last week and the rattle is back, but different than anoms as it is happening sooner (immediately upon startup) with more rattles but still quits after the clunk. Weird huh.

You probably just need the hydraulic parts. M62/S62 suffer from long term rattle if this isn't changed out after some miles but I'm unsure of the S65. On the M62/S62, you can remove the tensioner and test it as it's filled with oil and shouldn't compress.

Thanks...I'll look into it. Would like to find a diy. Off topic, what do you think about them remaking Highlander? I hear Dave Bautista is the new Kurgan.

I think Hollywood has gotten dumber and dumber, have stopped reading books entirely, and are only into rebooting old shit that was good to begin with, like the '85 Highlander

They remade Conan? Total Recall? Wtf man?

LOL, true, and they both sucked. The only good remake (or reboot I guess) is Star Trek. Absolutely love the new movies and cast. Everything else has been shit pretty much

Nope, sorry. I ordered two tensioners from ECS yesterday and am going to install those myself first. If that doesn't do the trick, then she's going in. I'll report back either way though.

Total Recall and Conan both sucked, but Conan star Jason Mamoa was ripped a hell, and looked awesome as Conan.

What are the part numbers? Are those timing chain tensioners, or serpentine belt tensioners?

I liked him a lot as Drago in GOT. Was pissed they killed him off.
