09 E92 46k Rod Bearing Pic

Here is a pic from my recent rod bearing change. No noises or issues. Just getting ready to supercharge next week and wanted to be preventive. By the looks of them it was a good idea to change them anyway. No copper showing, but it looks like that was right around the corner. Ended up paying $900 WPC bearings and ARP bolts. Labor was $1,100.

4-5 bearings with serious wear , so it's good to see about the BF replacement

What oil brand/spec was used here ?

You must be in sales, because no technician who has a clue would imply that the bearings pictured have wear that looks normal for 46K miles!

you guys are funny. You call this wear. This could have gone another 50k miles easily or more. 100k miles and then change bearings which would be a completely reasonable life for this type of engine.

Do you think bearings should show no wear? Have you ever seen pictures of even new bearings and how they get scuffed just in the shipping process or mild handling. People are naïve to think bearings are not supposed to wear.

Is that copper showing at the parting lines on some of the bearings? Mine had that. I am on a phone so I cannot see in detail.

That would make sense, except for the fact that Me, ashley schafer, and many others have the OP's mileage on top of that.

+1! OP's bearings looks exactly like picture 8 under the title NORMAL BEARING WEAR.

The fact that someone else said those had "serious wear" is what I find laughable.

Well shit. I didn't think I'd be flamed so much for posting them. Guess that's why I only have 3 posts. I didn't just buy the car I've had it for a couple years. I probably would have just rolled the dice and not changed them but with supercharging it next week I felt it made sense. Someone asked about oil. I've always just used the dealership recommend for the s65. I had the extended maitnence plan so it was covered by them.
